Nissan handles Formula E while Renault F1. End debate.
Think the debate will go onto Infiniti! hehehehe
I see what you did there... :D =D>

Meanwhile, Renault have announced an all new PU for 2019, so I believe that means layout. I wonder if this has been known long enough, as to not compromise Mclaren's early switch. They didn't give details, whether they've conformed to the Mercedes/Honda layout or stuck with their Ferrari-esque layout with some changes.
I doubt it's the Merc/Honda layout. One thing we learned from Honda is it taking a lot of time and pain to get that right. I also think each layout has their advantages and disadvantages. In Brief, switch from 1 layout to the other doesn't bring any performance and just creates alot of work.

We already knew there was some sort of layout change needed, in that McLaren couldn't use the new MGU-K cause it didn't fit.

Don’t know how they attracted such a big sponsor with their results, but good on them

It's only for the last four races. There might be something for next year based on performance but who knows.

Maybe one of the top bosses and Zak go way back and maybe he (Zak) was owed a favour..
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Results don't matter, it's advertising, they just need people talking about the car. Which they are, every weekend. 500 pages on here should show that.

It's just a deal for a couple of races, but it's good new anyway.

Does this mean Alonso will have to smile more often? You know, have a 'Coke and a Smile...'

It's not that simple I'm afraid. Brand image is a crucial element as well. The more people that are attracted to a team, the better it is for sponsors. If a car is bringing poor results, that's all fans are going to associate with it, no matter the screen time. This is one of the reasons why Redbull has probably the most lucrative sponsorship deals on the Grid; connotations with the underdog status.
I also noticed it in a 2006 pre-season promotional video and it often comes up in discussion how Ron wanted to protect the image of the team by only taking on high-end and exotic brands like Siemens etc.

I don't think you're going to dent Cola's brand image one iota even if the car drives around at the back for three years, they just need more cheap exposure against the influx of energy drink marketing from RB + Monster everywhere.
And if the car does start doing well they'll probably change the deal to Monster anyway to combat RB.

Look at AT&T, they sponsor a team but you'd never know it. I think they see the ability to use F1 in a commercial that supports their narrative (at the cutting edge of technology) more beneficial than fans seeing and identifying the logo on the car.
Note: I've seen the AT&T commercial many times, but still had to look up that it was Red Bull who they sponsor.

Staying up late trying to figure out how to make your F1 car competitive? Need to stay awake? Forget RB, have a Coke!!
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

In this case it makes sense I guess since Coke is just a fizzy drink and not something like Redbull.

From being totally devoid of all sponsors for the past few years the drivers overalls are looking decidedly more colourful all of a sudden. Good for the future, Zak’s much maligned record as a marketing whizz appears to be at least part-way bearing fruit.
