longruns doesn't look that good tho
They were given the task to drive as many laps on red tires as possible, I think that's why they were in no hurry.
high 1.47 or low 1.48 doesn't help them, although i think they can go faster a bit

It wouldn’t take too many laps at that speed would make a two stop suddenly much faster, particularly due to being able to run in clear air for a while.

Am I right in thinking that the start of the race last year had a short period of Hamilton driving 10-12 seconds slower than his pole lap to try and eek out the tyre life as much as possible knowing that nobody could pass him? Don’t rule that out being a possibility again.

i rewatched the race of last year and yes they were doing it slow in the first laps and then suddenly he went faster and egnited the race.

so you could be right, although a 2 Stopper isn't the fastet way (normally) but depending on tyre deg it could be an option

Actual lap times... Mid 46’s, low 47’s... Not bad compared to the rest of the midfield... The odd ones mainly due to traffic

This is another one of these races ...Do well in Quali, then just bring it home on Sunday :(. Doesn't matter what you're race pace is on Sunday. hopefully that's changed but that's what it's been in the past.

I’m afraid you are right and won’t change... Still remember how last year Perez couldn’t get around Sirotkin in a superior car.

I don't think Alfa or Haas did (unless they are genuinely that far off the pace), but the rest certainly put in attempts. Pace looks really decent. Could be one of those weekends where McLaren find themselves in no mans land between the top 3 and the midfield, which is just where they need to be.

Wow, really hope they will be doing this good in quali. Seeing them in the top 10 for every sessions suggests it might be a good track.

Thanks, I just saw the timings at the end of FP3, and was surprised at the gap. Carlos 0.6secs ahead of the quickest Renault. I hope this continues into qualifying.

Norris' first Q2 lap was very strong indeed, looks like he really hooked it up.

That's a superb lap from Lando! Must have hooked it up perfectly. Hopefully he can repeat in in q3.
