If Charles gets the penalty it's an awful session, he cost Sainz a better time and he'll then be starting behind a McLaren. Would be such a ferrariesque collapse

I'm gutted, I want to see Ferrari at the front again, anything to take points from Hamilton :)

It's a little surprising to see SF21 on pole. The difference compared to other tracks is the power unit, it is not critical factor. Chassi of SF21 not to bad...

I always knew the aero could improve. They have some really good creative people at Alfa, and Ferrari has the technical capacity to execute the concepts they are working with. The car is a big improvement despite not being able to make a dedicated cape. Their gamble paid off in that regard, and now all that's left is for the power unit to come up.

The floor does not seem to be damaged on this picture. Gearbox seems to be ok as well after first inspections.
So maybe only front wing and front as well as rear suspensions? What else?

I wonder if Ferrari is officially done developing this car. Don't think they've changed/tested any new parts since practice at Imola.
Judging by the latest interview they are basically focused on 2022, first chassis should be read somewhere during summer. We can probably except few parts that were done way before.

+ Developing completely new engine concept and also developing new combustion concept because of change of fuel

So, does that mean they see good numbers, or that they are behind development?

It's just the gearbox. I think the fact that they didn't say it's all good tells you all you need to know, Binotto said they won't take the risk so I think Charles will take the penalty

Where do you have your information from?

The following is a an official tweet from Ferrari:
“UPDATE: An initial inspection of the gearbox in @Charles_Leclerc’s car has not revealed any serious damage. Further checks will be carried out tomorrow, to decide if the same gearbox can be used in the race.”

The wording is interesting though... No “serious” damage, so it could have some damage, even if small... Binotto afterwards saying that they won’t risk it and change it if they have to sounds like they are just managing the timing to not overshadow their pole

No serious damage is good news, they can change damaged parts like dog rings a few other components within the casing free of any penalty so hopefully it's just that and they start from Pole [-o<

Ha! Sadly it did not. What a terrible shame for him and for the race.

Maybe one day Leclerc will finish in his home race.

While Ferrari might bare some blame, Leclerc shouldn't have put that car in the wall in the first place.

Let's hope Sainz can keep things together.
