It's huge, the difference between this and last year. It's a pleasure to watch him drive now. And it seems like it's just a little bit of everything, a little later on the braking, a little quicker out of the corners, good with the tyre management, better with the elbows and the racecraft. Little improvements everywhere have made for a big incremental jump.

The Red Bull Ring is a good track for him, I hope he has a great race, hope the team has a great race. It'll be tight stuff, seat of your pants Qualy and race.

I wonder how much the kerbs might play a part again, though you'd imagine lessons have been learnt.

I think in retrospect, Lando will get more critical acclaim for his rookie and sophomore F1 seasons. There’s a lot of praise for the steps he’s made this year, but he was incredibly measured in his first 2 years. Looking back at how Albon had multiple FP crashes, huge ones at that, George on multiple occasions throwing away points scoring chances etc. There were a lot of complaints about him being inconsistent. But the fact is, consistency comes with experience, as he’s proving now. Nice to hear Brown point this out.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Looks like they have replaced many of the sausage kerbs with gravel so that will be interesting

I like the gravel more anyway... still punishes you, but less likely to damage the car

I feel like we should always just skip Free practice sessions altogether and only follow quali and onwards :P

Basically slowest in sector 2... that’s odd.

I was going to post a comical reply initially but after seeing Mclaren so slow in the corners I’m concerned again🙈

There are only two turns, albeit slow ones, I do not believe that this is the real time of the sector.

You'd think after months of slow Friday's we'd be used to this by now.

They always run the fp in a very low engine mode. I wouldn’t be concerned. Seeing s3 times it’s encouraging. We will be there or thereabouts. Times are so tight on a 1:05 lap it’s easy to look too much into the times. Ferrari race pace looks electric though in comparison. I suspect we are going to duke it out with AT and Alpine for places 7-10

I suspect the slower pace (both qualy and race pace) is because of the usual setup improvements that happen between practice sessions, I guess at best gathering some tyre wear data in case that the race is fully dry or dries during the race but likewise setup improvements found in the rainy sessions might not necessarily be helpful to dry running, this might be a painful weekend as it seems Mclaren starts a weekend with a baseline setup and improve massively from there.
