4 cylinder running a 4/6 of maximum fuel flow = 2,100MJ/h, which is 6,802rpm per fuel flow regulations.
4 cylinders running at 550MJ/h = 2,200MJ/h, which is 7,155rpm per fuel flow regulations.

Yeah turning 2 cylinders completely off and carrying the dead weight of those cylinders doesn't make sense to me. I could forsee a scenario where decreasing feul pressure in 2 or 3 cylinders loses less HP than using that xtra pressure in the remaining cylinders gains.

It definitely would be a better Idea for future regs than a V8. It would be illegal in the current rrgs. You need 1 MGU-K connected to the Sun Gear and another connected Ring Gear. So it would be heavier? Also is it patent protected by Toyota? I seem to remember thr original patent from 1997 expired but there a ton of micro patents.

They should have lived with 6MJ limit of recharge and 150kw deployment 160kw boost and returned to pure racing of 750hp

With that they should have concentrated on reducing weight.

if (as chipengineer has said) it can adjust the gear according to energy moving only from one MG to the other

it has 'geared neutral'
(the belt CVT hasn't)

ok the (DAF-style not Volvo-style) belt CVT was its own differential, though

Minimum weight for a Energy Pack in 2025 was 31.0 kgs. In 2026 the same minimum is 35kg. Far from earth shattering.

The Toyota hybrid transmission is simply a gearbox with three input/output shafts - ie it is a differential or "power splitting" device. The torque ratio between any two shafts is fixed, therefore it is not a CVT.

The angular velocity relationship between any two shafts can vary but only to the extent that the angular velocity of the third shaft is varied. The angular velocity relationship of the three shafts does not vary in operation.

I did not say what is making the car heavy. Just pointed out the FIA to focus on reducing the car weight.

What route they take for it is for them to come up with. Be it tyre size, gear box length, turbo position, width of fuel cell, all avenues to reduce the weight
