Speaking of tire wars, sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere already, how about having different manufacturers, with the teams getting freedom to choose whatever they feel best fit tire on a raceday? Ex: Both Pirelli and Michelin would supply everybody on the grid. Ferrari can take Pirelli for what suits their car; Mercedes could go Michelin; FI could do bridgestone. Win-win for all...
Many times, depending on how the overall package is put in, a car could do well in one compound from one manufacturer but be harsh on other manufacturer's tire. So, give them all and let the teams choose what fits them. Manufacturers get tire war to provide the best so that their tire gets chosen ahead of the other manufacturer. Win-win for everyone...
