I wonder why the Ferrari engine is such a smoker?

Can the ban on recycling of air really have effected them that much compared to others?

Vandoorne with a 1m18.855s to set the best time of the day so far.

Then goes 0.003 slower on another hot lap after a cool down lap inbetween.

From www.motorsport.com live test day 3 page, taken from Gary Anderson:

Adjusted times
1 Red Bull 1m18.347s
2 Mercedes 1m18.750s
3 Renault 1m18.792s
4 Ferrari 1m18.891s
5 Williams 1m19.449s
6 Haas 1m19.737s (suspect lower fuel than some)
7 McLaren 1m20.206s
8 Sauber 1m20.218s (probably lower fuel than most)
9 Force India 1m20.455s
10 Toro Rosso 1m20.623s (identical to the adjusted time from day 1)

US - 1:18.400 on 2nd day of 2nd test by HAM
HS - 1:18.047 on 2nd day of 2nd test by RIC

haha yeah I saw that too. GA attempt at correcting all the times as if they were on softs and with the same fuel load I believe. so cool, TR has the fastest car

Sorry for not writing full explanation (I am at work after all :) )

These are ajusted (normalized) times by Andrerson taking into account what he perceives were the ammounts of fuel in specific cars and different tyre combinations.

However the problem is that what he has used to calculate the differences between compounds is nothing like the info provided by the teams and Pirelli.

That would be awful for McLaren.
And Ferrari.
I can't imagine Ferrari slower than Renault...

(Soon I hope, but not 2018 )

Yeah, I wont read too much into what Anderson says.
He has no idea about fuel loads (unless he is seeing what guys are putting in), how hard the guys are pushing/slacking off during a lap, how much deployment/harvesting they are using/doing,, DRS usage, engine modes etc.

My guess is he is waaaaaaay off

If you look at the conversation concerning GA's "adjusted" times, then I don't need to shut off my sarcasm....ever. 8)

Perfect, thanks :)

Hulk’s just busted the best time on the soft but interesting to see neither RB nor Mercedes doing much in the way of quick times in this tyre - despite, in Hamilton’s case, going quicker on the mediums. I get the feeling that tyre’s been hard for some teams to get working in these conditions/new track.

It strikes me that Mercedes have the same problem as they had last year. In that the softer compounds are just useless for them because they blister too quickly. And, for whatever reason, by keeping their design principle the same this year, they will be stuck with another diva. Red Bull and Ferrari look dangerous to me.

I just can't wait for all this speculation to end...
