If you check hairpin footage from Canada you'll see many cars have high rake. The cars are a mix of 2021s rake and 2000's era aero elements and chassis size.

For me, go to Alpine now would be the worst decision of all. For me, if he wants to have any chance of his son having memories of him driving in F1, as he said, if he wants to have any chance of retiring competitively (fighting for points or a podium perhaps), he should renew for 2027 with an option for 2028. Any other choice is throwing away all the suffering since Canada 2023 for no reason. To me, it's even illogical to retire now. Aston is not stupid, even Honda. Newey requested a recalibration of the entire tunnel last year; they are very late. The B spec will probably be a decent base for testing and evolving so that next year it can be competitive. I think they can start 2027 fighting for points and maybe will be the 4th or 5th team in the second part of 2027.
ok, thats the first time ive seen somebody say where this "2 second" rumor came from. hopefully hes just throwing a number out there. a couple of races ago, 2 seconds wouldve put them in the middle or top of the midfield. problem is, its a moving target. cant do nothing but wait to see.diffuser wrote: ↑13 Jun 2026, 14:38To throw more question marks on your perception of the up coming upgrade, Stroll said "around 2 seconds".zoroastar wrote: ↑13 Jun 2026, 04:33cool thanks for the link. at the same time, nobody from aston or honda are quoted as saying that. its tossed in between quotes from the honda guy and lance stroll. but somehow these guys know that its 2 second upgrade. maybe they heard it from somebody at aston, maybe its an educated guess, or maybe they just made up a number.
i just wish theyd be more clear on how they know this. in the article it seems like somebody told them that, but it doesnt say who. and usually if they got a quote, they would tell us who they quoted.
my guess is that they took the quote from lance saying they wanted to be in the midfield, and did the math for how much time that would take, and came to the conclusion that it was about 2 seconds. but nobody from the team actually said it.. maybe by getting to the midfield, lance meant he expects it to be a 4 second improvement haha. we can hope
That's also cause it can vary per track.
That article also said the upgrade was waiting on Honda.
The article also talked about a bunch of test they need to do to ready the new PU, like Honda hasn't done anything until now, which I presume isn't true. I am sure Honda have a development team working on this since this ICE was sent to be built. You always break up you team in atleast 2 groups, one to work on the curren ICE, another to work on the next.
yeah i think this too. hes been making comments about still performing for a while. he still wants to end his career on a high note. i dont really see him jumping to a new team unless theres absolutely no improvement coming. itll be a huge shame if he finally links up with newey only to be ruined by engine regs.
Both already proved that they can eventually makes it perfect.FNTC wrote: ↑13 Jun 2026, 22:12Alonso should wait until the B-spec before making a decision, in my opinion. Not that I have any influence on his decision making. But I am sure he wants to see how much of a step they can make.
Personally I have faith in Newey, but it depends what Honda can do with the ADUO upgrades.
Agreed. Actually, I'm pretty confident joining Alpine or another team is not a realistic prospect. The decision is between continuing for 1 (maybe, just maybe 2) year or retirement.zoroastar wrote: ↑13 Jun 2026, 21:39yeah i think this too. hes been making comments about still performing for a while. he still wants to end his career on a high note. i dont really see him jumping to a new team unless theres absolutely no improvement coming. itll be a huge shame if he finally links up with newey only to be ruined by engine regs.
He does not need to consider the money, so his deciding factor will be which team will give him more points or titles ( Ok, he is not going to get a title) or be the most "fun" for him.SchuMassa wrote: ↑13 Jun 2026, 22:30Agreed. “Fernando will start today’s race from the pit lane due to a change of ESME and MGU-K,” the team announced in a statement issued to PlanetF1.com.
The control electronics unit has also been replaced.
