Mercedes W13

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

This confirms the question that was asked yesterday about the louvers.

Intakes??? Very strange flow-field if they are!!

Yes, I had a  at that when I read it. I expect the twittering is done by some young twenty-something that knows nothing about technical things. Probably has a degree in media studies or a social media "degree" (I can't bring myself to call it a proper degree  ).

Ignore the words, just look at the pretty pictures. Most social media is better consumed that way!

I know, but just like with various types of diagrams, you don't need words to learn something useful.

I posted the tweet to specifically answer this question.

If you notice the commentary in a tweet is either factually incorrect or misleading, please make it plain in your adjoining comment.
Some will read the text, look at the picture and then simply repeat the mistake (but think that they are speaking sense!).

Is that even an official F1 account for mercedes? I've never heard of "mercedes.f1motorsports"

I still have the feeling that this car is not the real car. It looks like.last year's car with this year's wings and floor. I wouldn't be surprised to see something different at the next test / first race.
As I’ve said previously in this thread, I just don’t see that (that it looks like last year’s car). The packaging, suspension, side pod solution, etc. are all completely new. In addition to the aero surfaces/furniture like wings, etc.

I think (correct me if I am wrong) that the impression you are getting stems from the fact that Merc have been able to make some sophisticated and elegant solutions, generally, from the previous rules possible for 2022, whereas other teams have not.
I don't think so, personally. I remember lots of us thought that last year too, especially when Merc had lots of testing troubles.

I will admit that I was surprised at how similar that the W13 looks to the W12, but it wouldn't lead me to believe that this is not the real car. Limited testing, limited budget, limited time...

I think we'll seem some considerable revisions between now and March 20, but no major changes to overall concept (like RBR/Ferrari) unless they have discovered an absolute disaster as it is now.

So according to Russell, the car isn't that bouncy at all, like the others.
F1 posted a video about the Ferrari, it's basically a rapper car.
But everyone says Mercedes is affected the most. So now what???
I mean I beleive Russell instead of the reporters, who told us that the Ferrari is super stable...then we saw the video...

Well Ferrari was super stable for the whole day yesterday and good part of today. They probably tried pushing a bit with some setup changes to see how much they can push before bouncy castle is activated.

Mercedes was apparently very bouncy when Hamilton was at the wheel.

So Russel's saying they're behind Ferrari and McLaren.
