No Instagram model will have as thirsty an inbox as Adrian Newey's right now.

No mention of Marko? Seems like he is leaving because of Marko.

Since he's stepping away from F1-related duties almost a full year in advance, there is no legal basis for F1-related gardening leave

I'm sure RBR legal team will try to stick to some other story though
It sounds like a respectful compliance with the written word of contract, allowing the possible earliest release without RB backing down on their intended application of contract in forcing absolute adherence to those, signed for, words.

A "soft" equitable application to allow both sides to move on without scrapping the good will of achieved working they've obviously had since starting.

Perhaps naive of me in assessment, but if no other evidence available to counter this, a realistic and respectful way to end an agreement of long standing.

Not a single word on Marko and the verstappens. If the power struggle rumors are true its obvious where he stands

To be fair, and the the Verstappens, he hasn’t mentioned any other drivers in his statement

I know, but if they were close, he would have mentioned, its Neweys chance to single out the people he is grateful for to have worked with. And if the powerstrugle rumors are true with Marko/the verstappens on one side...
Im sure we will know when he write his final book when in pension :-)

He is on gardening leave now. Gardening leave is the period between handing in notice (or in this case negotiating the end of contract) and actually leaving the business. RB can ask Newey to work on whatever during this period although it would make sense for them to exclude him from anything F1 car related.

After the contract there would be the potential for Restrictive Covenants (ie a non compete) which may run beyond the end of the contract. Notoriously hard to enforce unless written very very well and they are narrow in scope and should Newey actually move to Ferrari then you have two legal systems interacting which will massively increase cost for RB to enforce since they would need to be the ones to bring action against Newey / Ferrari.

EDIT: Since the tweet had not loaded when I hit reply it suggests there are no restrictive covenants.

Marko's omission is a bit interesting but I wouldn't read much into it. Also, in the past Newey has said how he built the team with Christian and Helmut so that's what makes it interesting. Anyways, it's over and no point in overanalysing things.

Interesting, good spots! But it must be all about Horner, right?

Working outside the team on RB17 will be the gardening leave, effectively. He'll finish his obligations towards that project and then be free to do what he wants. I believe his son is head of sales for the RB17, so he is clearly invested in finishing that project and keeping good relations with the folks at RB.

Horner destroyed the team because he can't keep his pants up

#-o I assume you read in detail what Newey wrote in his letter.
.
Oracle Red Bull Racing Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey said: “Ever since I was a young boy, I wanted to be a designer of fast cars. My dream was to be an engineer in Formula One, and I’ve been lucky enough to make that dream a reality. For almost two decades it has been my great honour to have played a key role in Red Bull Racing’s progress from upstart newcomer to multiple title-winning Team. However, I feel now is an opportune moment to hand that baton over to others and to seek new challenges for myself. In the interim, the final stages of development of RB17 are upon us, so for the remainder of my time with the Team my focus will lie there.

I would like to thank the many amazing people I have worked with at Red Bull in our journey over the last 18 years for their talent, dedication and hard work.
It has been a real privilege, and I am confident that the engineering Team are well prepared for the work going into the final evolution of the car under the four-year period of this regulation set.

On a personal note, I would also like to thank the shareholders, the late Dietrich Mateschitz, Mark Mateschitz and Chalerm Yoovidhya for their unwavering support during my time at Red Bull,
and Christian, who has not only been my business partner but also a friend of our respective families.
Also, thanks to Oliver Mintzlaff for his stewardship and Eddie Jordan, my close friend and manager."
.
Who has not only been = Past tense while he is still working with him!

And "the many amazing people": Marko, Drivers, his design team, etc.
The Power of Dreams!
