Out-washing rear wings. You would think it would be bad to out-wash higher than the side plates, but in this generation it seems an out-washing upper wing flap is good?

There is a lot of discussion about the rear wing endplate corner, and huge diversity in ideas across the grid.

You can be reducing junction losses, depowering/powering the tip vortex, increasing horizontal expansion via outwash

This video should give a good indication of what changes lead to what outcomes in this region

This has probably been talked about... If not humor me.

Has anyone noticed how the front wing flexes and brings the area under the nose down?

There is some footage from the nose cam that shows this happening.

I noticed it about 2 races ago.

Quite a few teams have similar characteristics. Christian Horner made a comment about it recently.

Yes. But don't be too distracted by that moving portion, as this was also moving in 2022/2023. The real gains were made from the reshaped main plane, flap and wing edges. Feeds the floor more consistently under pitch and yaw they say.

Moving wings isn't news, everyone does it, the part that caught my attention was the under-cover of the nose separating and moving down.

Interesting, do you have any clips showing this? I hadn't noticed it.

I Wish I did.
I believe i saw it in Miami.
If anyone can get hold of a video from the nose camera it can be seen there.

Russell rear wing in Canada

Russel front wing in Canada - the new spec.

I dont have the software to draw any lines across to measure the flex, but someone might be able to.

Against reference on my screen, LH wing is moving /bending backwards with the two spots at upper edge clearly moving downward at maximum load.

GR wing has considerable movement on left side of frame, easily 1cm drop when that video is sized to fill a 13cm height viewing frame.

This is very significant if scaled up, particularly for front wing flap.

The rear wing, GR Canada, is very clearly moving backwards and downwards at full load.

If you put the Petronas legend at top of viewing frame, then the whole flap gradually appears as it reaches peak loading on final straight, such that you can see over the top edge of flap at that point.

Tried to put some lines on. Might be done wrong to how others normally did it on this forum.
