I fear the team is 'playing up' this upgrade to keep fans and sponsors happy as part of PR.
Typical media strategy is to underpromise before and overdeliver after.

Remember, COTA is a sprint weekend. So the luxury of a typical 'setup buildup' of a normal race weekend is not available.
The concern I think I have is do they really understand the issues.

They've had correlation issues between their tools and the track. I think if they do have the 2 paired up it will be goodd - don't think faster than McLaren good but a step up. If they don't get that right I am concerned. The sims may show good signs but will they reflect on track performance and have they really fixed the correlation issues.

Let’s not drift into world politics. Deleting those posts. There was nothing particularly wrong with those four, but discussion involving politics always goes downhill quickly.

Not bad, but I really liked his orange/golden helmet he used for the European season. I kind of hoped it would stay as permanent design.
(Although it didn't bring him much luck for that period.)

Max was yesterday and today at the Mugello circuit to test a Ferrari 296 GT3 car from his friend Thierry Vermeulen.
In the article is a 8 sec video from yesterday at a wet track.

Anyway, it is very possible that Red Bull also neglected the correlation runs, especially last year when they were extra short on wind tunnel time and wanted to focus all their runs on performance. It is a very good example on how ATR can hurt the leading teams.
Do you really think RB doesn’t use VCARB’s ATR for that?
Yes, because even sharing a wind-tunnel, each teams systems are completely separate, on separate networks, and nobody from the other team is allowed to even be in the wind-tunnel building when a team is using it. And every team has to be able to demonstrate the life cycle of every component at the FIAs request.

The only real worry that is hard to manage is engineers talking to each other outside of the factory - that's kinda impossible to prevent. But that's nowhere in the same league as borrowing ATR-time.
...and nobody can force you to wipe the whiteboard ;)

...and sometimes you leave a computer logged in by mistake...

...and is the trash emptied too?

The geomeyric intricacies are a result of developing a certain idea or aero strategy that can be likely communicated in a 5 minute chat or a crude sketch. That is the really valuable info. Any aero departement can work out the details.

Actually, the biggest issue in 2024 is correlation between CFD and WT in "lab" conditions and track results. The philosophy of the aero concept is not detrimental any more, so those 5 min chats can't make magic happen right now. Stable performance under extreme yaw and extremely low ride heights seems to be the key and it requires perfect WT correlation, which in turn depends a lot on the WT equipment
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

I suspect that simple and the FIA could catch on pretty quick too (the white board/empty the trash/computer logged on would be caught under a computer forensic or even general forensic examination of data.

Matching design interactions then finding something between the 2 teams where one appears from no where.

I think there could be concerns. Say shared components - suspension aero loads looking at components down stream I am sure maybe could help. Since RBR would have all the data on the suspension.

Some chat between team members for some general stuff but in depth
