Isn't that just Horner's approach. Love him or loath him, he's definitely effective.
It's difficult to know when Horner is genuinely annoyed that a TD has gone against Red Bull or if he's playing mind games with other teams.
The teams must have known the FIA were likely planning to clamp down on flexi wings, so will have had
that in mind in the design phase. Seems a bit pointless given the technical regs for 2026 has movable aero parts.

From what I understand, it doesn't work that way. Generally these TDs come about from some team asking the FIA for clarification on "something". At this time of the year, you'd have to believe it's on something they're working on, as they don't know what others are doing. I presume that during the year it could be to block something that someone else is doing.
Yeah, exactly. These Technical Directives (TDs) don’t just drop out of nowhere—teams poke the FIA with questions, usually because they’re either pushing a gray area themselves or suspecting someone else is. This time of year, it’s probably about future-proofing their own designs, but mid-season? That’s when the real political warfare kicks in, trying to kneecap whatever clever trick a rival has cooked up.

As for Horner, yeah, he’s always playing the game—whether it’s genuine frustration or just theatrics, it’s all about shaping the narrative and putting pressure where it counts. But with 2026 regs bringing active aero, all this flexi-wing drama could end up feeling like a pointless fight over something that’ll be obsolete soon anyway. :)

Oh wow, I work for one of the IT companies that is owned by the founder of Allwyn. If there is an opportunity for a project for McLaren it would be a dream come true.

So 2025 Team merch dropped today... https://www.mclarenstore.com/collection ... arlyAccess
I get that we support the team by buying items, BUT these prices are a ripoff imo... Thoughts?

Looks like Mclaren have added their champions premium to the merch.

I buy the set up shirts… they are £10 more this year than last… I remember when I first started buying them about 10 years ago and they were £30/ £35, now they are £65…. I guess the personalisation option is a smart addition for no extra cost.

High prices in F1 is all the rage now I guess, look at the astronomical ticket prices….

I’ll still buy the shirts because it’s better value for money than a day trip to the race.

Sorry, this is a bit random and off topic. Can anyone in the UK or US tell me how much a yearly F1TV subscription is? Also, any reports if the group car livery launch+pre season testing will be shown this year?
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Merch prices are crazy since last year. I used to buy stuff occasionally until late 2023, but theres no way I'm buying a Tshirt for 50+eur when I was able to get a hoodie for 30eur in Nov 2023.

Livery launch will be streamed on youtube for free and I see preseason testing already scheduled in F1TV and should be broadcasted by SkyF1 as well.

I don’t think that would be the case here. That usually happens when something is clarified, but in this instance we have a clear tightening of an existing test

I really think this is being blown out of proportion. No one is saying wings can’t flex all of a sudden, they are simply saying when the test is applied, the wing can’t flex as much as it currently can

Smart teams will work around this, and the wing under load will probably still flex as much as it does now, or very near it at least anyway. I suspect it will have a very small effect on performance
If anything this could give the teams, such as McLaren, who'd been using flexi wings for longer and advantage if they have a better understanding of how to work around the tests.
McLaren will know the limits of flexi wings, so they might have a slight advantage over the rest of the teams. They'll know how far they can push things before the FIA notice something is off.

F1 TV is available in the UK for £19.99.
However you can’t watch the sessions/ races live or re-watch them till January 1st the follow year.
For example on the 1st January 2025 the entire 2024 season went on the ‘archive’ which is available to watch…. As well as all the seasons all the way back to about 1995 I think….

I personally think £19.99 is worth the money even thought I have sold my soul to Sky to watch the races live too
