So what sounds more likely:
1) A working group that was obviously qualified enough to earn a spot on the F1 grid next year has stolen a wind tunnel model or images of a wind tunnel model, or both, and are trying to pass it off as their own.
2) The FI group realized that they were going to have to make major modifications to their wind tunnel model to accommodate the larger fuel cells, and may have decided to go in a completely different direction with their aero design anyway. And rather than completely scrap the model, they decided to sell it to the Lotus group to offset the cost of the new model, which would also benefit Lotus because at the very least they can use it to validate early CFD models which can then be expanded to accommodate the larger fuel cells.
Option 2 sounds more plausible to me...
