Wow another scapegoat for draggy chasis. They should fire boulier instead

I wonder if that means don't expect much from the Spain upgrades ?
Maybe

Surely you'd wait to see what the update did before making any decisions.... unless it's only worth 5/6 tenths and as we know that's far from enough :wtf:

Bouiller is part of the design team?

Boulier doesn't design the cars.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

boullier was key person along with another dude who kept on blaming the engine instead of trying to fix the aero and chassis. those shareholder were probably promised last year that with a renault switch it would give them a redbull performance car. and now after 3 races. those shareholder are probably fed up of those excuses. Tim is first to go and probably more to come after spain. shareholders are now using their money instead of H this year so it probably hurting them

This is why switching to Renault was a good thing, else Honda would have been blamed for everything again. They can now see that things have to change in the chassis department. Fighting with teams like Haas and Force India, even with the Renault switch, simply isn't good enough. Just look at the facilities McLaren still have. They might not have the budget of Ferrari and Mercedes, but not entering Q3 in any of the races is just sad and a big, big fail.

Serious questions have been asked internally as to how McLaren can have misinterpreted their competitiveness.

It is not impossible that other changes could follow in the coming weeks, but this could depend on the performance of the car at the Spanish Grand Prix, when a major upgrade package is being introduced. Among the changes will be a new nose design.

McLaren racing director Eric Boullier has said that the reliability problems suffered in pre-season testing delayed the introduction of upgrades that had been planned sooner.

He said the problems were caused by McLaren being too ambitious with what they thought they could achieve while switching engines.
They should have kept Jost Capito, that was a big mistake.

I was accused of harsh criticism when I said last year that McLaren wouldn’t win races because of that a PU change is quite difficult and their management wasn’t stable....

Those new side pod deflectors were probably the last straw. Shareholders probably calling for heads after that. Little do they understand that those are validation items. Will be interesting to see who takes over, do they promote from within, or hire from outside?

I get the feeling it could be internal... not sure any top person may want to go there now. Tim Goss has been there for ages, just like Neale... they move them around.

We sure this has anything to do with whether the chassis "Draggy" or not and everything to do with stuff being 2 months late?

I hope their decision isn't hinting at a lack of confidence in their Barcelona update........

The CTO's main role is to manage the company's technological roadmap. That was missed.

From autosport forum:
Joe Saward, March 28th:
I also have a rhetorical question: what do you think would happen if an F1 technical director became rather "tired and emotional" (as Private Eye used to say) on a flight home from Australia (while in team travel gear), and was to cause trouble on the plane, including making rude remarks about his team principal - to the man himself. I guess such a thing would be a firing offence, wouldn't it?
