McLaren MCL33

If i remember correctly from their pre season talks the front monoqoque+suspension was pretty much carried over, otherwise i would suspect something is "turning" of the car, but since that front worked last year? Offcourse they introduced the new nosecone...
Last year they atleast gained on tracks like this, they dont this year at all, so could be integration or related parts, rear suspension,
But how on earth with a near copy of last years car, atleast the front they suddenly loose df compared to last year, and that with far more agressive sidepod design, seem to me there must be a flaw so deeply incorporated, a bit like williams just to less extent, i just hope they find so next years car wont suffer
didnt they lose the ride height altering steering arm mount with the fia clarification im sure that hurt them as well as wheelbase change and weight distribution change.

on a side note are they any photos or slow motion video of the car in the rain with spray and a redbull or ferrari to compare to. would be interesting to see the different flows of air

So new diffuser, floor and front wing. Most parts arrived in FP3 so couldn't find photos earlier. Qualifying was a mess which made it impossible to tell how much lap-time they gained. Race might give more info.

Is it just me who's excited about the new front wing? It has no outwash tunnels. That's a big deal! No one has come up with such an innovative idea for a FW since maybe 2009. Good job by Mclaren aero dept. The car as a whole might be slow but it's littered with clever ideas.

What is the benefit of this type of wing?

Maybe 2019-ready concept?

FI & Renault had something vaguely similar in 2009.

So does this front wing have any performance boost for 2018?
Or have they now completely written off this season, and now trying to get as much real life data on 2019 concepts as possible?

It’s for this year. It energises the outwash and manages tyre wake better. Not sure if they can carry this over for 2019.

Can anyone see anything new being tested? All I see is that the vortex generators on the sidepods are now black/No paint instead of orange

Looks like they ran some instrumentation on the front wing and then red flowvis.
The vortex generators on the sidepods are painted black but I can't see any change is size shape or angle.
