The piper is paid by FOM. They say where the cameras will be sited and require that they can see out of those cameras.

Ferrari have called attention to the roll hoop camera. So FOM want to have a look and hope that their audience will too.

@big tea may be right and the interesting thing is elsewhere.

I hope he goes banzai and makes his own team for a year or something, that would be funny and pretty cool.

Just need to move the screen off the wheel, and move it to a HUD on the inside of the helmet visor...
I'm surprised they didn't implement an in helmet HUD years ago..? It seems like a pretty logical display evolution for the pinnacle of motorsport

Not wanting to add weight to the helmet?

I think the working parts of the Google Glass are 1 ounce... that would probably be the best way to integrate.

To a large extent this would be of set by what they do not need once it is fitted.

Yeah it could show the wet racing line of the fastest driver in realtime too...
Always find the gap then use it.

i dont think it is a good move to drive for midfield team..... stop racing when you are doing good, no need to go to sauber and be mediocre before you retire..... and i think Kimi knows this

People these days really believe everything that is written on the internet. If you're fighting for poles and wins, why would you switch to Sauber. It makes no sense at all. He should retire if he can't continue at Ferrari. I highly doubt Kimi will be staying in the paddock after his career.

If Ferrari really do intend to back Sauber heavily, I think it is a good idea. They would move up quite a bit with full Ferrari backing and a top driver. However, I am not sure about a driver having any management position in a team as it has not worked the last couple of times.

Part owner, yes, good pr and a good network already in place. Maybe 2 seasons to establish the baseline similarity/difference in the two cars with a known driver who can drive to a plan, then move over to a JYS sort of role.

Just filling in as there is no other seat, I agree with you, not good, but if he just wants to drive and be around F1, He could make it work better than most.

Or a ghost trace of your own fastest line.., but we're getting into driver aide territory rather than steering wheel data on the helmet visor in the name of safety.

You guys might be overlooking the fact that Kimi outside of the works Ferrari team might have a much better mental and emotional state. The freedom to do more in terms of racing for himself might mean much better and enjoyable drives by him, for him. It's a possibility. And with good hardware from Ferrari he might even begin winning races here and there. Who knows.
