2 Stopper is the quickest strategy. Medium - Hard - Hard

There are people who ran 25-30 laps with the Softs but almost everyone lost a lot after 22-24 laps odd. So I think 25 Laps would the maximum for the Mediums, Ideally with a full fuel tank, 20 laps will probably be the quickest strategy.

And then you last race's Mediums where people did 25-35 laps without much issue (except Sainz who went 40 laps odd). This will be the preferred tyre for the race. The Mediums (Now Hards) looked good easily for a 25-30 lap run.

I would go for - Medium (18 laps) - Hard (30 Laps) - Hards (33 laps). The other option is Medium (30 Laps) - Hard (41 Laps) ! This is not quicker option. if you for a fresh pitstop & gain 2s more, you make a lot of time in the last 10 laps of say the Medium run or the Hards run (30 or 40 lap run). There is no way a 1 stopper with C3-C4 is the quicker one.

People will go for a C5 run to go into Q3. You start on C5 & do a 2 stopper. C5 Soft (11 Laps) - Hard (30 Laps) - Hard (30 Laps). Even if you pit on Lap 8 or 9 with C5 you can have the final stint with 32-33 Lap hard run. Noway does someone want to start P11 or P15 (very small gap between midfield teams) & try to run in dirty air for 10 laps. And then are on Mediums while the car ahead will be on Softs which should be initially quicker far for atleast for 5-6 laps atleast !

C5-C3 this weekend will just see Red Bull further ahead I'm guessing.

Depends how big of a setup change Merc made? If indeed they went for broke in trying to maximise 1-lap pace to the detriment of rear tyre wear, then they could end up a lot more competitive in the race.

Teams that can afford to will want to avoid the C5 tire like the plague.
Should be good for around 16 laps. May be a good tire to finish the race on. The soft needs something like 26psi working pressure to keep it from roasting through the final sector.

The other tires work better at more ideal pressures.

If it's raining on Sunday, I think C5's will be usable in the race.
If someone is on a relatively new C5 and it starts to rain very lightly, then they'll be in a good place. Otherwise it's either go on to inters/wets or stay out on what you're on and hope the rain doesn't get heavy. I doubt anyone would come in a switch to C5 should it rain. Perhaps take the C5 if the dry line is in there and you need to change tyre with 5 laps to go. But otherwise it's not likely to be a race tyre at all.
I feel like the Q2 of past race was very close here I think. If that C5 tire can put a sub-top team up near the top tier teams or even be faster than them (them not using the C5's at that point), then it might force others to use that C5 as well just to be safe that they are thru to Q3.

True, Hamilton needed two runs in Q2 last week. I can’t remember that. Max had several of those last year.

Max did 2 as well, although I don't think he needed it.

You are right. But on red that second, not on yellow and not as a necessity. Hamilton improved on his second run. It did mean he had slightly fresher tires as Max did 5 laps on his first run (as Hamilton) but Hamilton only needed one hotlap (3 laps) on his second yellow run in Q2. It did also mean max had totally new yellows left and Hamilton only a set with 5 laps on them.

Sorry I meant he did two fast laps on the medium like Lewis, then switched to the softs for a sighter lap before Q3.

The teams have real first hand data now to setup their cars. And they will have more practice time to top it off.
A lot can change for the order this time around. Alpine could be more competitive, so can Ferrari and Torro Rosso.
Mclaren will avoid what happned to Daniel from happening again. Perez may get much closer to Max now with more information on his car's setup.
Mercedes I have no clue what theyre going to try, but I expect them to be sacrifice qualifying pace for race pace, and then try their best to force Redbull into a long first stint.
For Sure!!

See. This is why 2021 will probably be the best season in decades....

I think Max(unnecessarily :wtf:) did 1 more lap than Hamilton in Q2 on M. At least that's what shown during the race.

I have no idea why would they throw away that advantage they could have #-o

I already explained like 5 posts above.

Max and Lewis started on yellow in Q2 and both did 5 laps on their first set (2 hotlap each). Mercedes did not trust Hamilton’s time enough and send him out for a second run on yellow again. That was a 3 lap run. One hotlap. Max did not really need to go out again and fitted reds for his second run (he went last and broke it off quite early). This meant Max had a set of totally fresh yellows left for the race, Lewis a set with 5 laps on them. But indeed a 2 lap advantage on his starting set.
