Wolff just said that Mercedes are fully working on 2022 and will have only tweaks this year, while concentrating on getting the max out of the tyres.

There's got to be some gamesmanship in that statement. (or as on Sky they are speculating the budget cap is a limiting factor....)

No offense, but Ted/Crofty sounds like an utter fool. I swear, these journos are getting to be so bad and out of touch. They try to force a narrative and when the facts don't support it, but act stupefied and incredulous.

If I had a $ for every time Ted/Crofty was wrong, I'd be buying Merc AMG F1 from Toto along AMR for good measure. I wish we could have more neutral, honest, journalists and media people. But I digress.

Hamilton could certainly have gone quicker - he lost 0.4secs on his fastest lap with a mistake at the harbour-front chicane. But even that would only have put him level with the Ferraris.

Yes, it cost him time by taking a bit too much kerb, but not nearly 4 tenths. I'd say 2 tenths at most, if that. Leclerc also had a pretty big oversteer moment in T16 costing him some time. It's very had to get a perfect lap around here and those little mistakes are part of the game.

The 4 tenths figures was mentioned on the BBC's radio coverage of FP2 by, I think, Jolyon Palmer. Certainly there was much made of Hamilton losing time and that was the figure they mentioned. I'd guess Benson has just grabbed that figure and run with it.
