You're right, not exactly equal. The RB was slower than the Fer on mediums and about equal on hards cause Max and Charles couldn't keep one another out of DRS so over a race distance Max won with inferior material against what we now know is the dominant car ;-)

you are missing advantages of being in front. If vers were the driver in front at Jeddah he could put a bit much gap. Maybe Perez too but just kept Lec out of their plan a.

I would say the RedBull had the edge in Jeddah. The RB was able to close quite easily compared to other cars. But then again, Max still had to make the pass work.

Jeddah was just about the same anomaly as Australia was. Binotto has said multiple times they misjudged track evolution and thought tyre deg was going to be more important than it ended up being. This was primarily due to both Ferrari drivers not doing any race sim in FP2 due to their wall encounters, missed out on 4-5 laps just like RBR missed out on extra 4-5 laps in Melbourne because they were busy figuring out their setup at the start of FP2.

Having quality time with your car is extremely critical this season, no one to show this better than Mercedes who held back on their aero package, at this point of the season, tallying every single lap from both cars in both testing, fp, quali, race in any condition they are still 20% less mileage on it than they could have been at and have to put sensors on cars during races.

Honda is still in charge of assembly now, but what’s the plan past this year?


Well, Honda have been tremendously good to us by allowing us to continue using their technology, and it’s worked well, particularly with a large regulation change with the introduction of the E10 fuel. As far as ’23, ’24, ’25 is concerned, we’re in discussions with Honda about continuing the existing relationship that we currently enjoy.
Honda is now still in charge of assembly. So this is just about the assembly, not about the delivery of the complete PU from Japan.

In this condition honda should involve more, or should come back to full support because it is obvious that there is more WDC,WCC potential there. They have to take all benefit of this.

If Honda wants their IP to remain untouched they'll have to continue like this, cause as soon as the assembly is being done at Milton Keynes RBPT has access to the inside of the engine and the IP is no longer a secret. This would provide RBPT an excellent base for the 2026 engine for free. I'm sure Honda doesn't want the RBPT Porsche combo to get a free ride from their engine. The current Honda deal is why RBPT can still be qualified as a newcomer, they have never seen the Honda from the inside.

I heard RBR's updates for Imola are worth .3, Ferrari is expected to improve as well so it may only amount to RBR edging closer by .1

There's fewer corners the car is weak in at Imola so that may help somewhat as well. The final two corners in Melbourne were the ones where RBR struggled the most.

Tosa the exit to aqua minerali and variante alta will likely be the biggest challenge. The other corners happen to be in the car's sweet spot.

I would see Rivazza as the most comparable spot to S3 in OZ. Tosa is of course as well tricky.

Do you expect big setup changes? I would very naively estimate that you can nearly run as in Melbourne. So the biggest differences might be who can improve the setup more with the findings from the last race.

So if I didn't get it wrong they still will come to imola lighter compared to previous race ? 0.15 istead of 0.3 is also good gain ( if it is ture, off course)

He was talking about the update, not half of the weight, so 0.15 sec gain is way to much.
