Create a folder with your user name under this 'OpenFoam' cases dir.

Go to 'info->directory info' in the GUI menu and post what's in there.

ok so I can load the input files into mvrc helper, but case is not creating and I think it has something to do with this whole openfoam folder issue

Aha! I have something.

I renamed the shared directory in the vm to 'c/Users' instead of 'c/users'. now openfoam recognises that there are files in the workingDir.

it's a start I guess. helper is creating a case but seems to be stuck on 'checking of files'

thanks for sharing your setup.

but I have the same issue as before, helper is stuck on 'checking of files'
how large is your vehicle_body.stl file?

25mb, ascii.

I've actually gave up on the GUI and I am running all by hand for some time.

By hand I ran bodies up to 120mb until I found a proper meshing workflow.

Mine is around 50, so shouldn't be a problem. I think I'll run manually. Please can you explain to me the commands to create a case? And post processing?

Btw openfoam is working now that I added the capital 'U' in virtual box. So everyone having this issue, rename the shared folder path from 'c/users' to 'c/Users'.

I have a batch that will jump into the case dir, run it, then jump back and do the mesh merging magic. Then post.

Most times it's just replacing the body stl between runs, easier done by hand after you catch the rhythm.

I'm at the airport into an international trip for a week :( so I don't have access to my folder structure or batch files.

Anyone there able to chip in?

From memory:

Creating the case is explained in the MVRC readme file. It generates the folder structure and the command to build the case.

This will generate a folder structure and the runcase.sh file that will run the case. You need to jump into the folder in the terminal window then run:

chmod +x runcase.sh
./runcase.sh

Thanks for all your help!

Have a nice trip

I'll have a go at it as soon as I have fixed some overheating issues on my pc, hopefully by Sunday

So I finally got the case created today using the cmd version of w flow.

I have also found the issue of why helper wasn't creating the case and it seems it was because the wheels were binary stl files. But helper didn't give any error so it was really confusing. As soon as I ran wflow from cmd it gave errors for all 4 wheels.

Perhaps there is no issue with helper after all other than the shared directory error. I will try again with the new wheels and try to create the case through helper. At the moment I'm on iteration 267 ish of my car from le mans, as an opening test case. PC is running very hot and on the brink of shutting down, running close to 80 deg centigrade with a desk fan blowing along the side of the case at full power. Hopefully I will fix my overheating issue tomorrow and run some other simulations

Btw how many iterations is the MVRC fast option?

I think 500 or 1000 iterations.

Wich is your hardware configuration?

Once I was in a similar situation and had to slow down the cpu (from 2400gHz to 2200gHz with 0.1 less cpu voltage).

the gui still wont generate a case for me, but even so, again a big thanks to hp racing for trying to cater for us cmd newbies. just a few niggles to sort out and it will be as bullet proof as merc :D

yes it ended up being 1000 I think I did it on fast

HW specs:
Asus M5A97 R2.0
AMD FX 6350
8GB RAM
Radeon R9 270X
nothing special

btw the case ran and i'm getting some odd results. not sure but it seems the engine intake and exhaust are running the opposite way
