This seems to be a difficult question. :P I will give another hint.

Who is the small chap in that picture? What did he do for fame?

Osamu Gotoh?
Don't know if I remember his name well.
Anyway, engine guy from Honda's golden days, later worked at Ferrari and then at Sauber.

X jumped me actually and he has not been back to this thread for two days. We agreed previously that a two day no show isn't the way to go. On top I do object to widen the scope to CanAm. It is sports cars and not GP or F1 cars.

Osamu Goto indeed! Over to you.

Seeing as there is a two day rule (??), I'll have a go.

What event occurred during the Friday practice session for the 2000 Japanese GP?

The guy raced in F1 only one season for two teams. Interestingly his only point came in USA GP, where he continued his racing career later and he was pretty successful there.

He invented a scheme to sell stock for his career (basically to drive in F1). It wasn't very successfull. He never won a championship after he lost his seat in F1 to Klien who was supported by Red Bull. He drove Indianapolis races but never won Indy either. His highest in Champcar and Indycar was race wins and runner up in championships.

Wasn't Rat doing same thing?

Well, the "difference" is actually very simple.
I'm sure if you look at 2003 collective drivers picture you'd get the answer.

He looks like a tall guy at 1.93 m. Who do you refer to by Rat? Lauda used to be called the Rat. But he never issued stock.
