Half the power out put, half the rpm. They will sound very different to the F1 ones.CMSMJ1 wrote:Listen to the GP3 cars...they are IL4 1.6 turbos... or the Formula 2 cars. They all sound dull.
I've never heard a V5. Would it be similar to i5 in any way? If so that would sound very close to V10 at high revs.Tomba wrote:Euhm guys, it's pretty obvious now that I4's sounds different. The question was why V5's are not considered, and if/why they would sound better than a V4.
They're closer to a V6... they offset cylinders side to side...Pandamasque wrote:I've never heard a V5. Would it be similar to i5 in any way? Interesting, can you expand on this please?Giblet wrote:Not sure about 5's but 10's were unbalanced at low revs then smoothed out at song. That is an appealing feature of a race engine.
Go listen to older F1 cars, you'll hear them grumble on lifts β it sounds almost like the current exhaust blowing, but much much much more subtle.alelanza wrote:Interesting, can you expand on this please?Giblet wrote:Not sure about 5's but 10's were unbalanced at low revs then smoothed out at song. Older you mean when the engine was used to automatically prevent rear lockups? that was the more common source of odd noises coming from engines while the car was braking before 07'
