The merc is quicker than the Renault, I don't think a Kubica shod Renault would be doing that much better.

You need only look at how mercedes added modest improvements post Monaco to see that the Renault concept hit a wall with the FEE concept.
More could have been done.

If the race becomes a full wet one at Sao Paulo, he may even do it this year...

I would like to see him win a race, but the fact is that Red Bull are so fast, and Vettel has the whole qualifying/race strategy down to a science that he will win most of the races, and Schumacher or Mercedes as a whole wont have a whole lot of opportunities, unless there is some inclement weather and a crash or two. If Mercedes wants to win, they need to take it up two notches.

Iยดm a bit worried about their failing to improve reliability and having glitches and hickups in those two years (and already in 2009-Barrichello losing the third spring in Hungary as one example).
Mclaren are a good example for a team also running into homemade problems and having to pay for it..in stark contrast to RedBull who have suddenly erased all that and seem to come home with zero technical issues ,no pit hickups nothing but a well oiled machinery in motion .Brawn should know from Ferrari times this is one of the foundation pillars to bag not just one but a string of championships.

Hard to say in an era where the car is 80% and the driver Less than 20%
Gotta allow for others bad luck and variables ya cant control ;)
The real question is, will the car be capable?

There were quite a few races this year where he have shown he is still up to it.

Lately he has really shown he really does have the pace, on par almost with nico rosberg in the standings, driving fro 12th to 5th, i think he will be on the podium next year if not this year :)

Apparently Brawn is also building the 2012 car completely around him so it's looking good for Schumi. Less so for Rosberg but he's overrated anyway.

I would guess that such a serious amount of money would allow them to ignore the constant complains of a car that was nowhere near as bad as their #1 driver tried to sell throughout the season.

Heck, a car on which Massa finishes in the podium or has to lift so that his teammate finishes ahead (As we saw often in the final races of the year) is, by no means, a "bad" car."

Wait, I don't believe that. Where did you get that information?

I dont believe that either, last year we heard the same & the crap SWB car & MSC has always preferred a longer wheelbase car so I guess this is one of those self-created rumours originating in some fan forums from some-one who claims to have "INSIDE INFORMATION".

Insider information. Obviously you aren't going to find this printed anywhere. But this was to be expected, with Schumacher they know he's capable of winning a championship given the right car. Rosberg is a shot in the dark, regarded as a talent but who knows if he can win a world championship? Has he even been on a podium ever? Makes sense that they'd go for Schumacher, also business-wise.

The next step will be that Vettel replaces Schumacher in a few years. Also been alluded to by Ross Brawn.

No fan forum stuff. Anyone with half a brain can see that Mercedes GP doesn't believe in Rosberg to become a top tier driver. Good, yes. Multiple WDC winner, no. Hence Vettel in a few years.
