I thought the result was 8 to 4 and not 9 to 3 ?
Simon: Nils? You can close in now. Nils?
John McClane: [on the guard's phone] Attention! Attention! Nils is dead! I repeat, Nils is dead, ----head. So's his pal, and those four guys from the East German All-Stars, your boys at the bank? They're gonna be a little late.
Simon: [on the phone] John... in the back of the truck you're driving, there's $13 billon dollars worth in gold bullion. I wonder would a deal be out of the question?
John McClane: [on the phone] Yeah, I got a deal for you. Come out from that rock you're hiding under, and I'll drive this truck up your ass.

It was 8 to 4 only about some issues that Prodrive found usefull for them as new team. Anyway, even 8 to 4 means that 75% of votes were against Mosley's plan.

It is going to be wierd, teams can not start early as more and more cars do lap times at the end, this will mean the track will get hotter and better for the tires, so we are going to see some amazing stuff at the end of Qualifying and of course blocking.

FIA should have change quali. so that top 10 go out one by one in last 20 minutes in single lap attempt rathern than to make them drive around for 15 minutes with no point.

Even faster than 130R? I'm asstounded, esspecially coming into that horrible clumsy chicane and in the dark...

Shame they don't race the long Paul Ricard circuit, Courbe de Signes would really sort them out.

 Are you sure? The corner is taken at 280km/h. The banked corner at Indianapolis is taken at 320km/h.

That may be so, but I think that the Monaco tunnel is more like a REAL corner. (I guess Ralf would disagree with me  )

I was going to talk about it in an answer to another post of you, but I did not see the relevance (it was about wings) and I certainly did not want to throw oil into the fire...

I totally agree with you. Besides, this shows a lot of arrogance on the part of Mosley, because he promised democracy and the first time it goes against his, apparently, loved solution to costs, he overrules it.

Apendix 6 to the 2008 Sporting Regulations states the rules about engine homologation. This is clear and no surprise.

Apendix 5 says that decissions on rule changes are taken by the Sporting Working Group.

Now Mosley says that Apendix 6 is binding but Apendix 5 is not.

The worst part is that the mechanism for rule changes says that the Formula 1 Commission and the FIA World Council can deny proposals asked for by the Sporting Working Group.

Mosley could ask for a World Council meeting, appoint a new F1 Commission, and then accept or reject engine homologation. Probably he does not want anybody taking the veto power away from him.

There is still a window of about six weeks before the rules for 2008 are fixed and I think this is plenty of time. Declarations ahead of this process, contemplated in the rules he swore to abide for, are incredibly stupid and a gamble on no team challenging his dictatorial decission.

Single lapping would be a big anti climax.

Yes but what will happen in Monaco if someone crashes and blocks the circuit during qualifying? TV coverage time will expire and not all TV stations will be willing to add another 15 or 30 minutes just because of that. Not to mention that if cars behind are not able to pass crash site they'll have to turn off the engines because running static is very limited especially with engine running at full temperature.

Well, if in the last qualifying session someone did crash and block the track with ten minutes to go, then too bad. Times will stand, and drivers will suffer for waiting too long for the "golden" moment, which would not come. Take it as you can, it's all a claculated risk.
