I would set it up as follows:

Q1 - knockout-top 16 advance, 1 point for fastest lap
Q2 - knockout-top 10 advance, 1 point for fastest lap
Q3 - hot lap shootout, 10th - 1st, 2 rounds, 1 point and pole for fastest lap

Repeal Parc Ferme due to safety with weather changes.

Then race points:
12
8
6
5
4
3
2
1

But then again, I think fuel strategies would lead to on track passing, and get rid of the parc-ferme rule would also add more unexpected things, thus having more action on track.

Or, they could just make Q3 a low fuel run, and let them fuel how they like after qualifying...

I thought this year's system was fine. In any case it wasn't so failed that we need to go to a ridiculous lottery.

If you go out light in Q3 and get on the first row, you'd better get the hell out in front and open up a gap. If you go out heavy and end up midpack you need to push get some open road in front of you and hope to gain spots on pit exchanges. I think it does make the strategy interesting and as long as the cars pit during the race, pit strategy is always a factor.

All they have to do is scrap the bloody race fuel in Q3 and things would be ok.

This is an absolutely insane proposal. #-o The fact that after each lap the slowest car is eliminated brings about way too many controversial situations. Such scenarios as tire punctures due to debris on the track, oil/debris on the track that must be avoided by the last 5 cars of the pack, among other uncontrollable variables.

I still say the Quali and Race points system used in 2008 worked just great in creating an exciting WDC.

I agree with the removal of the Race Fuel idea. It's just silly. I also don't know why Qualifying MUST be something people have to see. Personally, I'm more interested to watch the race. I do watch the quali, but I don't expect casual fans to watch it.

Many times this year, Q2 has been MUCH more exciting than the actual race.

Q3 would be even better on low fuel runs, and allow for diff fuel loads at the start of the GP thus creating passing opportunities.

But, who cares, the fans that cry the loudest, and sob the most get their own way.

It is the way of the corporate world.

Exactly... just make all the teams declare their intended race fuel before quaLIFYING AND LET THEM ALL GO AT IT ON EMPTY TANKS for all 3 qual periods.

the simplist solution is usually the best.
