Odd Engine Note Changes During On-Board Shots

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

Any chance it could be the SECU not working well in conjunction with particular gearbox's?
Is there a standard program that give's a standard blip/spark cut on down/up change?
If so surely some of the teams would not want to reveal too much detail about their shift mechanisms forcing them to accept less than ideal programming?

Sounds like a load of shite when I read it back but if these teams defiantly aren't running Kers I can't think of anything else. I doubt it a problem with the T.V. feed, it's not like the picture and sound seem out of sync with each other, it's that the sound seems out of step with any pattern of recognisable up/downshifts.

I heard the BBC fellas mention during both quali and the race that it had something to do with the micrphones picking up another engine note, and the audio filtering they use not being able to decide which sound to play.

That is an interesting clip. During the engine note changes, Massa seems to be presseing all sorts of buttons on steering wheel and beside his legs. Might be nothing but....
I also noticed at Sepang that Hamiltons car was doing a similar thing. Then he mentioned over the radio that the engine was hitting the limiter to early. Thought that was the explaination but I might be wrong.
