So you think Heikki will be out of luck too?

I think both Micheal and his dad has passed their best-before-date by a couple of years as F1 drivers, but perhaps Marco?

Seriously, are you trying to say that Scott Speed was such a hopeless case, scarbs?

I didn't say a 'hopeless case' I just dont think he's cut out to lead a newly formed team, from a performance or a experience point of view.

I'm not that 'up' on American drivers, is there an American Indycar driver suited to the switch?

If you are looking for an American Indy-driver with adequate F1 xperience to lead a newly found team, obviously no.

Juan Montoya as by now "half-american" I guess, but he's surely not interested in F1 whatsoever.

I think Ciro is logging in as we speak, he can sense when people mention JPM.

As for Kovalainen, where could he go assuming Rosberg takes his seat? Toyota?

Or will Nakajima be moved up to fulfill Trulli's position...

Ooops...perhaps calling JPM "half-american" will put me in troble here...?

Japanese manufacturers seek to have at least one of their nationality competing. So unless the sky falls in and Williams suddenly go to Cosworth, expect to see Nakajima. Williams isn't in the habit of sacking drivers mid-season, anyways.
So far, the elimination of Piquet and Bourdais has been predictable, they were considered risky at the beginning of the season, and their lack of spectacular results has relegated them out of the big show. I do not expect any more drivers to leave right now.

So.... if there are so many new teams next year, and a shortage of experienced Formula One drivers.. consider this....

That's interesting. As far as I'm concerned he's having pretty good season, why is that?

Trulli is 35, and in Formula One years, ancient. Very, very few Formula One drivers ever get that many years in. As well, he is a well known commodity. Qualifies really good, but is average during the race. That may work for a new team, but for a team striving to improve, you don't go with an older driver who doesn't have the ability to win without the very best car on the grid.

Yep, but scarbs puts Kobayashi into Toyota. This also means that he's expected to be better than Nakajima.

It's not a case of me not rating Trulli (quite the opposite), I think Toyota want to focus on a German (Glock) and a Japanese driver. So I see an exit for Jarno, with no obvious seat for him elsewhere. Kobayashi is in at Toyota as he is a part of their driver development programme, while their influence will keep Nakajima at Williams.

Sounds plausible to me. Perhaps one of the new teams will be interested in Trulli's experience?

As for Rosberg, I am wondering if he is really interested in going to McLaren? He'd be the #2 driver for sure, a situation he has never been in during his whole career. Trouble is, I can't see him going anywhere else either, and it's unlikely he stays at Williams considering that Hülkenberg will go there and Toyota will most likely want a Japanese driver in the second car (I'm sure it's in the terms of their engine-lease contract).

Alonso is another questionmark, obviously. Personally, I can't see him staying at Renault (a sinking ship) another season, so I'd be very suprised if he doesn't find a way into Ferrari. Most likely Kimi will retire, but do we yet know that Massa will be fit to drive next year?

Kovalainen is another key to the transfer market. I have no idea where he'd fit in, other than in Renault alongside Grosjean, or staying at McLaren if they can't find another top driver bold enough to go head-to-head with Lewis. He could also end up out in the cold, which would make me a little sad honestly.

Toyota & Trulli have been negotiating for 2010 for a few months now. They have a great balanced pairing at the moment. Why would they replace a regular points-scorer with a rookie in Kobayashi, who's not really shining in GP2 so far this year after his GP2 Asia title?

If Toyota had faith in Kamui for F1, why not blood him via Williams instead of Nakajima?
