Good work Lewis!!! He was just giving the onlookers some viewing pleasure!

Shame he apologised, it looses some cool. Cant belive it made it to the main TV news!!

If Kimi did it then it would probably be worshiped even more.

Yea' that really worked out well for him. He got himself the back seat of a cop car, and his ride towed away.
According to reports Hamilton was "visibly upset"
Off the race track The Boss' are the local police! [-X

I'm rather disappointed in Lewis Hamilton. Ask any respectable racer and they will tell you that the track is where you show off and do crazy crap. But on the street, that's where you put your infant ego in check and realize that people have to share the street with you. Oh well, he's still got a lot of growing up to do.

Lewis Hamilton is "the Boss"? Oh man, I know he's a very, very good Formula One driver and has more driving talent in his little pinkie than I do in my entire body. Bad-ass? On a scale of one to ten, he doesn't even rate a two. Now if you want to see how being a bad-ass is.. try this on for size.

Another witness claimed Hamilton tried to hide from onlookers, saying: ‘He had his head between his legs. He looked like he was thinking, “Oh my God, what the hell!”’
Hamilton, who answered questions in the back of an unmarked police car, is likely to face a fine for the ‘improper use of a vehicle’ charge.
I really admire LH as an F1 pilot. However He just can't seem to stop doing stupid $h!+

This is all the vid I could find.

The most bad-assed 11th placed driver on the grid who's own boss seems to think actually he is some kind of (dare I say it?) 'pussy'.
Martin Whitmarsh wrote:"He spun his wheels away from a road junction - he shouldn't have done it, he knows that, but he takes these things to heart," he said.

Spinning wheels is driving?

Driving fast on the highway always had one main rule to me.
Not getting caught.
If you drive well part of that is being alert and seeing any law enforcers before they see you. It should be a natural result of driving well enough to avoid possible accidents.
Not impressed I am afraid, it also shows a possible lack of focus that puts him way behind some other drivers.
Pure skill wont cut it these days.
I would think twice employing him.

He was probably focusing on trying to please a crowd. The police were part of the crowd. :)
He's not having a good weekend in Australia at all.

I find this whole story ridiculous, and I can't understand how the police even could caught him speeding, if that statement is correct to begin with.

Usually there are regulations the police have to follow how to measure the speed of a car if it should be used as evidence for a speedign violation. That's why many cops have a 'serious talk' with you instead of fining you if you have been 'caught' speeding, but without evidence (such as the speed measurement of a laser gun).

'Spinning the wheels' is usually just a fine for creating unneccesary noise or something similar.

And often, a fine issued for a traffic violation to a non-citizen in a country is worth less that the paper it's written on. Why, well, the guy who got the fine will probably leave the country and then there is little that can be done to force payment or other punishments. The drivers license can't be withdrawn either since it's issued by another country.

I especially like what Webber said about this 'event':
"I think we've got to read an instruction book when we get out of bed – what we can do and what we can't do. It's certainly changed since I left here – it pisses me off coming back here, to be honest. It's a great country but we've got to be responsible for our actions, and it's certainly a bloody nanny state when it comes to what we can do."

Victorian police? :wtf:

I thought Australia was independent, but wiki proved me wrong:
The form of government used in Australia is a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary system of government. Queen Elizabeth II is the Queen of Australia, a role that is distinct from her position as monarch of the other Commonwealth realms. The Queen is represented by the Governor-General at federal level and by the Governors at state level.
