If you are quicker than the other guy over a longer distance, wheres the advantage???

People dont moan at Monza coming out of Ascari on the run to the Paribolica do they?? And drivers have been going over the line there for years... And i mean longer than i can remember.

I personally have no gripes about it. However i do see the point of view of others. If i was to do something, id bring back the old "Grass Crete" again, a sufrace that has enough grip for a tyre to have purchace on it, but enough grip at a certain speed and over that and you spin.

Or just have the kurb at certain key points of laps high enough that they do enough dammage that hurts the car enough for the driver to take note and drive in a certain way.

I just dont know what can be done. I do remember that in 2009 at Belgum Kimi caused a ruccas when he missed the exit apex and gained at least one place in doing so.

You obviously never watched DTM racing at Hockenheim  Especially a few years ago they were laying more tire rubber outside of the track surface in many places!

One thing that Bahrain Circuit is superior to any other are the run-offs. They have a thin strip of gravel everywhere about a meter away from the white line and then a lot of tarmac behind it for safety. If you run wide there you will make our tires very dirty AND lose time (low grip). That's the best of both worlds, some penalty for running wide, yet perfectly safe.

3. "circuit design" Build the circuit in a way that drivers don't get an advantage by not following the given track. For example by adding curbs, grass, gravel.

I think Petrov just suffered a type 3 penalty for leaving the circuit.
