He must be feeling good, as he just set a new track record and outpaced is teammate by 9 tenths.

I wonder which engine they are using this race? Merc and its customers are the only teams not to need a 5th pu this season so far iirc... Surely they're spreading the mileage where they can especially for the next 2 races

I’m actually starting to feel a bit sorry for Bottas.

May I ask why? It's his first year. I would think he is doing alright given the car is known to be a bit of a 'diva'. Hamilton has mentioned it himself in some interviews that this year he has actually gotten to know the car really well - and one can only do that IMHO if they have a familiarity with the 'DNA' of the car and the team. Bottas is new to all of this so this year will just be a lot of learning and I am sure he will go away over the winter and come back with more speed.

I think it’s because he is such a nice guy and realistic about what’s going on. He is also man enough to say when Hamilton is doing a better job and things like that.

To see the gaps actually getting bigger (in some cases), I just feel a bit down for him. Regardless of how the car is, it’s still not good for his confidence etc

9 laps from vet is pretty ominous. Hes pretty much going to Saturday half blind and may not have enough time to dial in his settings for qualifying. Thats if they sort out his car...

I hope Bottas can get his speed back. I was surprised how well he did against Hamilton in the first half of the year. Over half a second behind is not normal when you've been almost as fast with less experience in the car.

I'd just like to remind everyone about Malaysia - having a bad Saturday is not necessarily an indication of a bad Saturday.

Actually I am from one of these countries so I know the answer to my own question perfectly well, but I just wanted to bring it up! ;)
Ha, no problem. Well I learned something.

So they got it wrong then. Must be annoying for the Kiwi's.

Pole will be roughly 2.5 seconds faster than fastest P2 time. So low 32, that's incredibly fast.
