Well props belong to lebesset he articulated his points with much more substance than I did. Of course being a bleeding Yank I could never have the first hand knowledge that he had.
I still hold to my original contention, but will ammend it. "the Boss" may end up being the pilot that wasted the most talent in F1!
But I don't know this with any certainty. In fact I hope I'm wrong. And I agree that it was much easier for someone in Clarks time to stay on path. You might say that in the 60's the concept of bling, (by anyone but the excentric wealthy) or the outright demonstration of that mentality (by so many punks in my country, that would buy a gold neckless before providing himself with the actual means to afford it, after taking care of the people around him that may need a hand) would do no more for you than get your ass kicked!

well tazio ,like I said before it is about being lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time ...and dago is hardly the centre of the grand prix world , is it ! btw , do they still have those funny coloured aircraft buzzing over your head , the marines are bad enough !

but your point about easier for people of jimmy's generation to stay on path is well made , I alluded to the fact that jimmy was 24 before he sat in a F1 car ; if I remember correctly graham hill was that age before he drove a car of any type , got a feeling he could only afford a small motorcycle before that

now they come in as kids , and have to learn to run before they can walk !

to the optimist a glass is half full ; to the pessimist a glass is half empty ; to the F1 engineer the glass is twice as big as it needs to be
