Another write-off season. Mercedes advantage is as great as it ever was.

Yeah... I think this qualifying method will be disposed of fairly quickly.

I worry that Bernie might get stupid and offer to dispose of this format, but only provided they don't go back to the old format. He wants reverse grids, or penalty systems.

Would a reverse championship grid system be worse than this?

This season is already a write off...sigh
If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

Honestly, the pinnacle of motorsport, but the monkeys running this couldnt predict this would happen?

I have to say, 1:23.837 is quite a lap. When both were on equal track conditions, what was it? 5ths to Vettel?

But the race could be different, like last season, if the Ferrari is better on tire usage....

Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

Holy F. Isn't that an outright lap record?

And it looks Like the car isn't to Nico's liking at all.

This new qualifying format is worse than the single lap qualifying. The drivers who wanted to go out to do more laps got eliminated. The drivers who put in a good lap the first time just remains in the garage because the slower cars can't run anymore and nobody is there to threaten their position. If Lewis and Nico didn't go out one more time, what we saw was just a single lap qualifying, only with everyone running at the same time.

1) No, because it's not set in a race
2) Pretty sure someone has set a non-race lap that's faster, since schumacher managed a 1:24.1 in the race.

No the lap record belongs to the fastest lap done "during" the race which is why Michael Schumacher is still the record holder set in 2004

Edit: Mark Webber has just explained that F1 is nowhere near lap speeds of 2004, 05 during a race as they cannot maintain a fast lap time average like the v10 era. Ha ha haaaaaa! =D>
