^ LoL! You guys are gonna give JET fits again.
Trying real hard to look for positives in this race for the team... At least both cars made it to the checkered flag. Michael squeezed the utmost he could from the car as much as the setup & tyres would allow. All six cars in front of him were simply way too fast. Schu may have been faster than the two MP4-27s, but that's more a consequence of McLaren dropping the ball. In a way, Maldonado did Merc a favor by taking himself & Perez out of the battle for top positions. Not sure what was up with Nico, but clearly getting beaten by the STRs, HUL, KOB, a struggling BUT, and SEN must've been a terribly humbling & frustrating experience.
The weather god (or goddess) was like a flirty tease that gave Merc a glimpse/taste on Saturday of what could've been (MSC challenging for the win), yet suddenly turned fickle on Sunday and dropped them like a hot potato.
The lack of dry running during the FPs along with betting all-in on a wet setup probably hurt Merc a bit more that the other teams. Still, it was plain to see from the way the drivers & team were praying for rain, the W03 just wasn't going to be capable of delivering great results from a dry race in Silverstone. At the rate things are going, Merc is going to need Sauber to keep having messy races and Maldonado to keep taking himself & other teams' contenders out of the fight just to hang onto
5th(!) in the WDC... Yep, that's right --
5th(!) and not 4th (their finishing rank for the past 2 years) nor 3rd (which must be their minimum target for this season).
*sigh*
Here's hoping & praying for a strong upturn in form and much better fortunes for the team in Hockenheim. [-o<
