Have Mercedes figured out the Ferrari battery software cheat alongside aero improvements?
I don't think the engine situation has changed but Merc can afford to run less wing than Ferrari and still dominate S3.

Or Ferrari sandbagging for the 2nd row knowing they can get a decent slipstream for tommorow seeing as the RBs won't be there.

Look at how Ferrari is slower in comparison to other teams.. if Mercedes figured it out, they would have been faster than Ferrari despite Ferrari being fast as normal.

If I were Ferrari, I would have put Kimi on Hypers in Q2... or Softs.
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

Usually the customer teams turn up the engine earlier in Qualifying.
This time Ferrari is faster than Sauber by just half a second, which is shocking.
US for ferrari vs Hyper for sauber. Ferrari dont run max power pretty much until final run in Q3. End difference will be 1s minimum.

1s is not the usual gap, though. It’s crystal clear Ferrari is massively struggling. I suspect their set up job was quite bad this time.

Purple in sector 1 then messed up sector 2 again, peaked too early in qualifying.

3ths up in that first sector alone, that was going to be a mega lap if he hadn't messed it up.

Ferrari being equally fast in S1 and S2, but losing frighteningly much in S3. Shows set up issues big time. They had more RW than Mercedes, but still no chance in S3. Tires gone.

Ferrari officially absolutely nowhere. Expecting a similar story tommorow. Quite incredible how they managed to be so far off the pace.

Not at all. They were consisntely slower everywhere in quali, not just S3. To the tune of 2-3 tenths in every sector varying from lap to lap. They had no chance at all.
