Unless he's 100% convinced the W04 can fight for the title (unlikely  ), he'll find another ride. I can't see him retiring, not like this.
Nothing can be taken for granted from this team. Next year they will be fighting with Sauber, Force India and Williams. Not the top teams.
Merc is a lost cause.

I wouldn't be surprised if when we come back from break, to find them even further back.

Even if they find updates from the three kings, for them to be meaningful, it would assume the other teams do not bother to develop updates, which most assuredly will not be the case.

They are so far behind the teams at the front, where they were a few months ago, it isn't even funny. The fat lady is singing............

Simply "updates" are not enough for Merc. They need to radically re-develop the whole damn thing, it's a dog- simple as that.

They need rear DF asap.

Michael Post Race: We struggled with overheating the engine, and we also did not have telementry data on the car for parts of the race. That is why we stopped. Really a tough weekend for us, we simply need more pace from the car.

Speechless.

They're making mistakes not even HRT would do.

- he had to switch off the engine at the start as telemetry showed is was overheating
- puncture after lap 1
- retired because they had no telemetry data available anymore

marcush. did predict that the engine problem would occur, since the sand kicked by Maldonado during Q3 entered the engine.

Its going worse every single race. This is quite an embarsement for the Merecedes and AMG brand. They need the bring out some new things of the 2013 car devolpment to the second half, because they cannot afford 2013 to go the same way. Use the second half of 2012 as a test. This car lacks tyre management (drive ability a lot of wheel spin) and a lot of down-force. This car is a Bigois car, I really hope the next car will be a car with a different approach. You got Willis,Costa,Bell,Brawn and Elliot now if those people cant design a competitive car then Mercedes should pull out and back McLaren again. I really hope MSC joins Ferrrari in 2013 because this team don't deserve him. This car still looks like the car we seen in pre-season test. Every team had new sidepods, front wing, rear wing, floors and cascade wing, only the W03 still looks the same.....
Irvine:"If you don't have a good car you can't win it, unless you are Michael or Senna. Lots of guys won in Adrian Newey's cars, big deal. Adrian is the real genius out there, there is Senna, there is Michael and there is Newey. They were the three great talents."

One gets the feeling Ross Brawn doesn't care all that much.

First time in Shumi's comeback where I actually felt bad for him. Truly a horrid day. I'm not a Shumi fan at all, but surely this team isn't worthy of a 7 time champion.

That's the car we've really all been waiting for since the announcements. The W03 is a stopgap. Granted I personally wish it had more pace, but I'd be a lot more angry if it was the W04 having these problems.
Aha, never heard that one before, but what about the W05 then, as Elliott Ness will have no influence on the W04?
Oh come on, you were part of the original conversation. Anyway, yes. At a certain point, you have to draw the line. The W05 will be a whole different era. The W04 needs to match the potential of a Mercedes Benz works team. Ideally, the W03 should as well, but I'm giving them slack until the end of the season.

The W04 is the car that's supposed to exhibit all of fixes enacted since the team was given a full sized budget after the German GP in 2011. Not the W05 nor the W03. If the W04 fails it will be a VERY big deal.
I with X. You Merc fans were claiming the W03 would stop climate change and bring world peace.

Most of my thoughts have been echoed in the recent posts. Hope is such a bad thing when it comes to this team. Feel terribly sad for the drivers, especially Michael. The car is slow on all types of tracks now. I really wish Michael either jumps to another team, or retire altogether. Him staying at this team will induce me to keep hoping that the team will improve. The team is mediocre. Sad but true.
Forza Michael. Forza Jules

Michael won't retire, it's just not in his nature to do this. It will also leave a very bitter taste in his mouth; and he'll end up forcing himself back into F1 again, if he did retire. He is a man that is not content with himself, unless he is fully satisfied. Which he is not, as he has already said.

Schumi loves racing, he won't quit till he has 'real' success again. Whether that will be found at Merc or elsewhere remains to be seen.
