Are teams allowed to test 2016 spec engines in Abu Dhabi test?

as far as i know your car has to meet the safety rules, but otherwise you can put on/in it what you like

Right. Wasn't the plan to test the Honda motors last year at the winter test? Didn't make it in time, but that was the plan. New motor in old chassis.

They did make it, there was a MP4-29H. It didn't manage to complete many laps however..

it would be better for honda to test the 2016 PU so they can get some useful data to work on

I hadn't seen that it was a tire test, so as Joseki said no new parts allowed

speaking of safety rules, I've often wondered how FIA allows the teams to run with the big aero measurement contraptions
bolted on the cars, if someone has a crash or it falls off and hit someone it might not end well

The partnership, despite its occasional difficulties and digs in the media, remains both strong and committed, with Honda rumoured to be providing a total of $200m-per-year to its partnership with McLaren and power-unit budget.
No wonder there is no rush to get major sponsor - If above amount is accurate :D :D
