"I think the news came out either yesterday or today that Red Bull have the the most powerful engine, Mercedes second, and then we are behind".
Is this true?
If it really goes this way, then I will even more dislike Merc.AR3-GP wrote: ↑07 Jun 2026, 18:57This is an insane joke.
AutoRacer has learned from qualified sources, surprisingly, that it should have been Red Bull-Ford 'elected' as the best ICE of the lot. A flattering result for the newborn Red Bull Powertrains department, with the support of the American manufacturer on a not exactly sweet day in Monaco after Verstappen's breakdown. This will also mean that the Milton Keynes engine manufacturers will not be able to touch the Power Unit, unless significant changes are made to the 2027 hybrid.
The second surprise would be that the dominant Mercedes, credited by all as the best engine, would have obtained ADUO concessions for 2%. Toto Wolff's team can thus access a revised counterpart for both 2026 and 2027.
Yeah, the only way this makes any sense, is if Merc has been hit behind the scenes, making the engine slower lately.gearboxtrouble wrote: ↑07 Jun 2026, 19:05The only way this might be true is if Mercedes has had to nerf its engine to comply with the new CR test. That wasn't going to be visible at Monaco but will be a lot more obvious at Barcelona.
Mercedes said their engine was always legal and they didn't have to change anything.FNTC wrote: ↑07 Jun 2026, 19:07Yeah, the only way this makes any sense, is if Merc has been hit behind the scenes, making the engine slower lately.gearboxtrouble wrote: ↑07 Jun 2026, 19:05The only way this might be true is if Mercedes has had to nerf its engine to comply with the new CR test. This would be true even if it exceeded the CR because the test only changed after this weekend. It would have been legal under the prior test.AR3-GP wrote: ↑07 Jun 2026, 19:10Mercedes said their engine was always legal and they didn't have to change anything.FNTC wrote: ↑07 Jun 2026, 19:07Yeah, the only way this makes any sense, is if Merc has been hit behind the scenes, making the engine slower lately.gearboxtrouble wrote: ↑07 Jun 2026, 19:05The only way this might be true is if Mercedes has had to nerf its engine to comply with the new CR test. Oscar is not getting a podium today. Maybe next weekend.FittingMechanics wrote: ↑07 Jun 2026, 19:12
Working on the car under red flag sounds quite bad. DSQ?
If this is true then I don't know what I am watching.AR3-GP wrote: ↑07 Jun 2026, 18:57This is an insane joke.

It doesn't add up with the qualified opinions of sources from multiple teams, drivers, and journalist. It seems a little bit rigged, and I don't like to throw around words like that.
