New engine doing ok so far , after rumours of it not starting yesterday. Not seen any news on breakdown so far. Hooefully it stays that way.

On F1 tv they said it was broken body parts that they had to fix. They didn't mention a PU problem at all.

Those rumors are BS according to Alpine engineers.
Yes ALO used hard tires in his fastest lap, and had no DRS.
And winter testing lap times are meaningless anyways. (except during very long stints or race sims) even less representative than FP1 session laptimes.

Looks like team is purely focusing on getting mileage and data. Is it possible that tomorrow, during final 1-2 hours they will push PU a bit and try to validate some performance settings. I think peformance runs will also be important to validate design philosophy they have taken or they will only do perf runs in 2nd test.

Ocon has waited for his 115th lap to set a new personal best, and when out of the car, has been seen with a Ricciardo-esque huge smile plastered across his face. He's enjoying life down at Alpine it seems, and certainly has a good working relationship with his team mate too.

If you watched Netfliex then you will know how much struggle he faced to get F1 seat. After watching it, I am really looking forward for him to give good show in F1. All the best OCON!

It wasnt C2 for Alonso yesterday as some suggested, it was C3.

I like the revised livery on the rear wing endplate, they have fixed the strangeness with the livery there. The removal of pink highlights on the air intake and radiator intakes is also a welcome livery improvement: https://i.imgur.com/jEat1Vz.png

A focus on performance over reliability plays out as expected in the early days, but nothing to worry about IMO.

Several years of working on 2022, and they will be... fighting for P5 in constructor, as always, against Aston Martin.

That's not confirmed. Alpine-Renault targeted to build a championship-contending car and power unit combo under the new regulations and that could very much still be the case!

Again red flags. At least not only Alpine is not on the track. Apparently today they "opened" A522 engine a little and it turned out to be an oil pressure problem.
