Alonso is going no where. Look at interview of newey and his 2 regrets in life were not getting chance to work with Alonso and Hamilton and he said at least now he will have one less with chance to race with Alonso. I dnt think anyone is Aston has balls to make him unhappy

Not sure why they didn't pit as soon as they were about to lose position to Hamilton. They waited really long and lost a lot of time, which then dropped them behind all cars that started on hards. If they didn't do that Alonso would have been lot closer to Ham and might even challenged him.

Ferrari pace was superior to Aston. So extending the stint with mediums was the right decision as the hards had higher deg than expected.
Alonso race pace was completely same as Hamilton until lap 13....even slightly faster than Norris and Leclerc....than all of a sudden started loosing 1 sec to other top cars.......age thing 😉
His tires started to grain. He was also staying too close to Hamilton, on purpose(DRS), to make it harder for Norris to pass. It accelerated the tires to grain.

Tires grain cause the surface temp of the tires is too hot, the rubber starts to boil.

Ignore the noise. Russell's camp is trying very hard to get Toto to commit to him.
Well, it's not only RUS, there are also the permanent VER rumours. We heard none of such things in 2023, none of them in 2024. Too much noise "for nothing".

I imagine ALO could be released of his contract for perfomance reasons (less points than STR or things like that at a certain point of the season).

On the other side Cowell talked about ALO recently in the context of 2026. We will see.

I do think that it's starting to look like Stroll will not get a new contract for 2026. Think that's why he was given the upgrades first in Imola. I think that's why he blewup in Spain. I think Cowell said "perform or else" and he didn't(of course ,Cowell did that with daddy's blessing). So they maybe be shopping around for a 2nd driver. What was nice of RBR was to put Yuki in the RBR seat, now we know, he's a "definite No".

Just Don't think there is anybody around. I like Sainz but I'm not even sure he would be willing to come over from Williams at this point. Maybe Alonzo could way him?

I'm not sure Max is really shopping and Merc wouldn't dump Russel unless they signed some like Max. Even then it would be 70/30 with Antonelli going first.

Every interview I watch of Stroll, he sounds like a horrible human being. Spoiled brat. I watch the pre-practice interview with him in Montreal. They asked him "how it felt to be at his home GP" and he had to Clarify that it was "Were he grew up and not his home" with that fake smile ...What an A$$. Like he's too good for Montreal/Canada.

Well put. Alonso is safe and it’s just British media (and to some extent Dutch) stirring things because they don’t particularly want to see ALO/Adrian domination. Especially after Adrian chose Alo over Hamilton. Really hurt their egos.

yeah he has image problems. he knows that 95% of the aston fans, even in canada, think he shouldnt be in f1. and hes not willing to budge to help people like him more. if he had a change of attitude some people would at least like him as a human, regardless of if they think he deserves a seat. but he makes it hard to even like him that way haha. it seems like hes at the end of giving a crap. i wouldnt be surprised if he eventually announces that hes leaving. or he just keeps sucking for years to come. he should go drive a valkyrie in wec.

Yet Russell is quoted in the article as saying he has had no conversations with other teams and is loyal to Mercedes.

Strange negotiation tactic. This isn't the first time Aston have sniffed around him recently.
When you're one of the top drivers in F1, you don't have to play games. If he made 1 phone call today to Horner, Horner would make another phone call to Yuki and tell him he's fired right after he and George hung up. George would be driving for RBR @ Silverstone. It isn't complicated. That's also probably true for 7 out of 10 teams. That isn't true at Aston, cause they can't just cut bait on Stroll just like that. They have to respect the Money.

Can we stop for once this story that Newey joined because of ALO or chose ALO over HAM? Yes, he said that he wants to work with these drivers, but they are FOR SURE not the main reason why he joined the team. There are way more important reasons why he have chosen AMR.
