One of the benefits of GtL is that it has none of the nasty stuff. I'm not sure whether GtL petrol is widely available but Shell certainly sell GtL diesel in the UK as a premium product. One downside of GtL is that it has a lower density which might not be good on a race car as the tank would need to be bigger, for example.
