60k and claimed sub 3 sec. At only 500hp pushing 3366lb (around 1530kg). That's bonkers.
Saw some shots of the chassis at the launch (Shmee150) and it looks more like they've really prepared to add power.
Don't think we'll see a lighter version come down the line than the base atmospheric version because of that. But I commend them for not making it too too heavy.

Is that what occurs? They should evaluate based on measured emissions and efficiency, not engine displacement. Displacement doesn't necessarily correlate to emissions and fuel efficiency.

100% car makers, including chevy need to downsize and turbocharge their engines to meet emissions standerds for the last decade. So yeah. Not that having a turbo cuts the tax, but the emission standers are not achievable with a big NA engine. At the moment a 4.0 twin turbo is what everybody uses (McLaren, Ferrari, Mercedes, Porsche and a 4.4 for BMW).

that is the other extreme indeed.

This engine, still two valves per cylinder? guess the low price has to come from somewhere :P

GM LT2 6.2L OHV V8

Single camshaft
Pushrods
2 valves per cilinder

But i doubt 4 overhead cams and a 3 timing chains are any better or more efficiënt.

Yes, I guess any other sports car or racing engine, motor bike Manufacturers had it so wrong since WWII

The only advantage of a pushrod engine compared to a DOHC engine is its height. And cost of course.

What can also be achieved with a dry sump (like AMG did with their 6.2l in the past), but that would add extra cost as well. But hey, I've heard that Corvettes from recent time drive pretty decent for their price (in the US at least), so it's a good trade off. Good bang for the buck. But just not as high tech as car's twice as expensive :D

And weight
And efficiency

Not that I'm advocating a return to dinosaur tech, but a pushrod V8 still has its advantages in certain applications

This might be the only pushrod car you can buy in Europe 😂

Edit: and Harley’s of course.

"We really reached the point with the last generation C7 where the only way to improve upon it was to reinvent it"

Or...you know ... ask some Porsche engineers for help? They somehow manage to make the 911 a better car with every iteration despite the engine being "in the wrong place" - if Porsche was american they'd probably turn the 911 into a mid engined car ............

Wonder how much they paid him for that 8 minute ad ... "Can't think of any mid engine car under 180000" ... yea ...

Crude and garish. No surprise there then. But it's cheap, yay!

Yanks build a 1980s mid-engine car with styling from the early 2000s. Sell it in 2020.

That'll be a "yuck" from anyone with taste.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.
