What is your favorite banned F1 technology?

All the efficiency technologies like turbos, direct injection, variable valves and self ignition. From the chassis side flexible body parts or generally the ban on ground effect and movable aerodynamic devices, inerters and such things that increase mechanical grip and reduce drag. I also dislike the general restrictions on engine type and energy recovery systems. I think fuel and budget restrictions are better and would provide more innovations that benefit the society as a whole than very tight technical restrictions.

+1. Essentially all those technologies that would improve a road car without taking actual driving work away from the driver.

So adding to those above, hydraulic suspension, 4 wheel turning and 4WD among numerous others.

my favourite is Beryllium engine by McLaren-Mercedes. This is my favourite banned so called technology where Ferrari is very very very and very frighten of it. If this beryllium engine not banned... i don't think that Schumi will be 7 times champion.. it might be Mika Hakkinen 9 time champions! 9 times chanpions? Schumi fans might laugh at me later on....... ***LOL!!!***

Mclaren shot themselves in the foot with the bad introduction of electronic aid in 2001, Michelin in 2002 and a skiny car in 2004, Mika and Beryllium would not have sorted out these issues.

it happened after the Beryllium banned.. IMHO if that so called technology banned and with no "rival" near them when they win 15 out of 16.. i don't think that they would worried about the later problem that they have to face after beryllium banned. simple thinking from me is like this... if you still don't have true "competitor", why you have to think with the new inventions that will make the team lost a valuable points? so in this case it happened after the banned. IF Beryllium not banned... i don't think the later case after the beryllium banned will happened.

9 times? Really? When did the other 7 come about? Considering Mika retired after 2001 or 2002 or something like that? Mika only won races 1997-2001 (that's 5 years). He only won 1 in 1997, and he only really challenged for the title in 1998-2000. He wasn't even really in contention in 2001.

I tend to agree, although I think automatic movable aerodynamics are against the spirit of Formula 1 as the ultimate drivers' championship primarily. I've my doubts about manually movable aerodynamics too. Without artificial limitations drivers could endlessly change the aero settings during a lap. However, allowing passive movable (hence: flexible) aerodynamics, as a part of a massive deregulations in combination with a downforce limit, would be a good compromise.

Yes it was BAR and it was the reason Jenson Button got Pole in Australia, seeing as how the the whole track is trail braking.
