You are acting as if the cars will not weigh an extra (up to) 150kg at the start of races next year!

So then use a harder compound, cool them more, and brake earlier.

and the starting weight will be more like 100kg more than this year, not 150... track dependent of course.

williams are just negotiating .....just like kers there is probably something else they REALLY want
to the optimist a glass is half full ; to the pessimist a glass is half empty ; to the F1 engineer the glass is twice as big as it needs to be

They arent stirring ---, FOTA fought to keep the 2010 regs the same as 2009 and now all of a sudden they are trying to make all these technical changes.

They invested into KERS long term after the teams had long since agreed to move towards that technology, and a small group in FOTA move to change all the earlier made agreement... they are merely standing their ground and rightfully so.

But we're not talking about KERS issue here, right?

And talking about Williams talent, they'd better reshuffle their aero department and seek out for a really great chef-designer than spending money on KERS.

I don't see the problem. You cut your cloth to suit your means.

If the cars cannot take a race distance on the current 28m disc compounds then they'll have to run harder pads and discs.

Mountain out of a molehill...

If they had harder compounds then we might even see some outbraking as distances will be longer...so what is the problem??

All the guff about KERS taking over is pie in the sky..not going to happen.

Maybe Williams are just using this as a bargaining chip elsewhere - as smaller F1 teams have often done for years.

Maybe Williams is just trying to stick it to FOTA for --- up what would have been the most technologically advanced cars on the planet for 2010, where men would mean more than money, and genious would become the new currency.

I know that I would screw FOTA at every single possible opportunity that I could. And when Monty got red in the face, I would smile and say "--- you, asswipe."

Williams has been bought and paid for by the EvilTwins. As for their Gyro-gizmo, which as I understand has yet to turn a wheel in anger, I doubt if any competing engineer is losing any sleep over that.

I don't actually see any facts here, not even a quote from someone within FOTA so I'm not going to get all in a flap about it one way or the other.

Btw, the FIA legitamised rules are what matter not FOTA funny handshakes. KERS is in the FIA rules for 2010, and until it's removed it would be remiss of any team to not continue developing it as I think it will be far more benefitial next year. Also consider that Mercedes, which maybe powering 8 cars next year, is not so keen on the KERS ban anymore.

The brake disc issue is fairly minor but I'd personally say a move to extend braking zones would be good...but I don't want to see steel discs arrive!
