In short, only once the GRE comes into effect for the above 3 projects.

However, as a negitive, BMW would only want to supply a single team, as it is the engines in 2013 are all to be a supply of a minimum and maximum of 2 teams. But at the moment that rule is looking shakey asthere is only likley to be 4 engine suppliers in 2013 for the start of the new engine formula and thats the current 4 (providing the same teams power trains in 2013 as they currently supply) as other manufacturers are looking at a entry in 2014 to when they will probably have more money to spend on a F1 project.

Spoke to an English friend who works within maketing yesterday, who dosen't know crap about F1, but he flatly declared that a Button-Boss-mcLaren-BMW combo would be unbeatable marketingwise in Britain. Not even Ferrari could match.

that´s talking business....the marketing guys are the real decision makers in this industry.
from personal experience I know at a famous sportscar manufacturer in the Stuttgart area that marketing people just don´t really care about flat 6 -inline or Vs they don´t care about cornering gs or steering feel. All is based on the famous badge -produce whatever it is -we put a badge on it and create a campaign and it will sell like sliced bread-that´s the credo.

So if there is a desire to make this happen -it will

Thinking about it, Ron Dennis bering one of the smartest men i universe, before hiring Alonso that is, he will surely have his arse covered for 2013, either way the engines come and go.

A four-pot BMW, I doubt it.

But a McLaren MP whatever BMW with a screaming little V8, hell yeah!

A marketing man's wet dream, would change movies foreverr.

thats very true, and bmws v8 was very strong and if they were to come back and redesigned their v8 it would defiantly be one of the most powerful if not the most powerful

but what about MP4/12C?

It was a bit too much of an annoiance to Mercedes so why should BMW be happy with it?
A deeper collaboration maybe? A BMW -Mclaren with a very capital M .. ok it could be a nice roundup to the BMW portfolio ...interestingly the rumours about a
new M1 have died quite abruptly -right?

The Mclaren F1 was a road car sharing nothing with the F1 cars apart from it´s name really.
BMW wasn´t even the top of the list back then. Honda got the call but said they could no not do it.

BMW could not even make the weight but they made up for it big time ;)
Still probably one of the best sounding engines ever produced.

MP4-12C does not have a Mercedes engine, the only connection Mclaren have with Mercedes is that they supply engines to them in F1.
The turbo V8 in the new Mclaren is in house built.

Ah....but from 2013, MrM is long gone and Ron Dennis can do precisely what he wants. Very little doubt that BMW or even Renault would be happy to tie up. Röln's the man nowadays, thats all.

Mclaren building a supercar IS annoying Mercedes enough to severe their tieups with Mclaren and buy into Brawn...
I think Mclaren would have been happy to stick a AMG engine in their baby instead of commisioning Riccardo to develop one .

I doubt it, Mercedes has been selling their stake little by little over the years when everybody wondered why they just did not buy Mclaren instead.

If Mclaren really wanted a Mercedes engine in their old F1 or the new MP4 then they would have asked them. I think Mercedes was way down on the list though.

Mercedes probably had plans long before the MP4 to join F1 as their own team. So when Brawn needed a buyer, Mercedes was there with the money.

Times have changed with the hysteria that has been affecting the auto industry, so far that even F1 had to do something to please the masses.

There will be a Efficient Dynamics i8 which is sort of a supercar with M3 performance but with the fuel economy closer to a prius.

They said themselves that they laughed a bit watching Audi go after Ferrari and the boys.

Agaqin, if BMW wished to return tyo F1, it had to be with a top-team, anything else would not do, which leaves McLaren and RBR, a BMW-McLaren would be outrageously attractive to every sponsor thinkable.
