If they could, they would run. The small fire probably did too much damage to repair it before the afternoon session is over. Burnt wiring maybe or the likes.

Or maybe a shortage of some parts.

Why they came so unprepared without taking contingencies in equation. Test days are limited and they have almost new PU and ERS. I feel it is an true engine failure and all this is to avoid bad press.

Sounds like they've got some serious issues. It seems the rumors of a crisis and the subsequent reshuffle could be true. I can't see them being competitive this year, and I expect Alonso won't be sticking around for another season of midfield results.

To be honest if the team still fight for p5… then maybe it is time to stop F1

Renault sport is dead and Alpine will only do electric cars

This year they need to progress and I’m afraid they won’t

I got the impression Alpine came to Barca to iron out issues and that we may see their true ideas in Bahrain. I’d be really disappointed in them if they don’t make a damn good fist of these new regs because it feels like forever they had their eye on these changes.

Pat Fry is no mug though and I won’t write them off - I’d have liked to have seen more here but ultimately Bahrain is where it will become clearer.

There is still no information on the non-working DRS. As far as I know, the hydraulic drive is located on the rear wing. In this case, the team initially knew about the problem with the hydraulics, but it’s good that they managed to overcome 250 laps before going off

I thought the DRS was deliberately disabled because it made the porpoising issue unbearable?

They ended up with a Hydraulic problem. The DRS uses the Motor's Hydraulics... Maybe they new going in they had a weakness, something broke in shipping or something and purposely disabled it not to aggravate it the issue? Let's face it the DRS activator isn't something they need to test, it hasn't changed much in years.

Remember it wasn't a real test, it was a shakedown. IMHO this was more about testing the new suspension and getting aero correlation and for Alpine get more real world Kilometers on the PU in the car.
