Well done 1158, it was Monaco 1989, turbos being banned for that year.

Interesting. I found the run in with Berger from '88 and thought that might be the incident you were looking for. Weird time the mix of turbo and NA engines.

Well I don't have anything in mind, so I'll ask something I saw the other day.

There have been many race winning British Car/Driver/Chassis/Engine combos in Formula One. How many other countries have accomplished this feat?

Only need to list the country or countries and site 1 example.

Italy comes to mind, Michele Alboreto winning the 1984 Belgian GP in a Ferrari 126C4.

France: Jaques Lafitte winning the 1981 Austrian GP in a Ligier-Matra JS17.

USA: Dan Gurney winning the 1967 Belgian GP in his own Eagle-Weslake, but I don't believe that neither chassis nor engine was American?

I know the Welake engine was British, so that example is not correct.

You are very close. Think F1 races on an oval.

USA: Johnnie Parsons winning the 1950 US GP in a Kurtis Kraft-Offenhauser.

Or any other US GP until 1961, when the race was moved to Watkins Glen.

Excellent. When I thought up the question I didn't think about the Indy years. I didn't want it to be a trick question, but it ended up being one.

Interestingly the very first F1 win was all Italian.

Your go X

Right, only one Swede has ever driven for Frank Williams, who, when, where and in what chassis?

Guess I got you good on this one?

Lead; It was just one single race ending in tears, while the race was a non-championship one.

Ok so then a Race of Champions or similar...
Wild guess based on that then:
Who: Ronnie Peterson - I can't think of another Swedish driver :) Sorry!
When: 197(cough) - early 70's I'd say, before 1976 anyway
Where: Brands Hatch - Race of Champs held here, so plausible
Chassis: March - customer cars, Williams used them, Ronnie was driving them (again plausible)

be nice!!

- You got Ronnie Peterson right
- 197? obviously, but what year?
- Brands Hatch - Race of Championship is correct
- The March chassis is correct, but which model?

As an xtra spin and goldstar, Ronnie retired with an as unusual as scary failure, what happened?

Ooo, errr, non-championship race? Victory Race? If it's the race I'm thinking of, which is the one where Jo Siffert was killed, it was 1971 I think.

LOL not bad for a complete guess :D
Maybe my answers might jog someone else's memory, I'm all out of guesses on that!

Regarding the gold star qu: seized brakes? (I've guessed as you used the word spin, and it made me thing of locked brakes)

I know it was a brake issue, but I can't remember the specifics of it.

I read about it a few month ago and for the life of me cannot remember... #-o
