Lando is one of the fastest raw pace guys on the grid - that is why he has had so much "hype" over him. He won us the WCC last year doing way more of the heavy lifting, so we owe him a little patience. But he does need to fix what ever is going on with him this year

This!
2 Oscar Piastris wouldn’t have brought home the WCC last season

Oscar is a much better driver than last year though. Lando is cracking under the pressure of having the best car, while Oscar is able to remain "cool" (you see this also in interviews, Lando is always in denial mode while Oscar has no problem in admitting they have best car). He has to drag himself out of this situation and has to do it fast.

I fear of a crash between OSCAR and MAX in turn one tomorrow .....

Oscar is wise to Max's tactics.

Max also knows that Oscar won't back down and Max can't afford to drop points. But you never know, he might get desperate.

Oscar just needs to keep front axle level with Verstappen, that gives him the corner (on the inside).

We can expect Verstappen to divebomb on the outside and then cut the chicane, get a penalty but block Piastri.

I'm more interested in Norris clearing Russell.

I wonder if the best option and chance for norris to win would be to start on the hards and try hold 4th at the start. Not easy to do with the long drag to turn 1 though. If he were to drop behind alonso and sainz he will be a pitstop behind before long.
Will be an interesting race still I feel eith timing of vsc and safety cars.

I think Norris will start on the mediums. Oscar started 4th in Miami on the same tyres as the guys on the front row and benefitted from the first corner tussle. There will be another first corner tussle today. Of which Lando could benefit from this time.

Verstappen hasn't had a good start all year, so I'd think the risk is relatively low.

That sums it up for me. It's clear in Oscar's interviews that his confidence has moved up two levels and, while retaining his natural modesty, he knows he is one of the big dogs and not frightened to mix it with Max. It's getting a bit late for Lando to find the mental cog to really get in the WDC battle - not because of any points deficit but because of the confidence deficit. I'd love to see him reach out to someone like Mika rather than continue this childish "that's just who I am" rubbish. I know there's at least one here who doesn't believe in the importance of sports psychology but it's as plain as the nose on your face. When you hear the Nicole Piastri interview on Red Flags Podcast it's apparent that Oscar has always had an uncanny self sufficiency and with the tough and blunt Mark Webber as a mentor, there's a kind of dream team at play. Every addition to his string of consecutive wins will make Oscar tougher to beat.

Another win for Oscar and teamleaderstatus is his. I fear Lando is rapidly becoming the designated nr 2 driver.

I'm not sure they will have a number 1 or 2 driver unless they have to by end of season. It's also way to early. Let them battle it out.

Obviously Oscar is in charge, but I don't think anyone thinks things can't flip around.

Oscar just bossing it at the minute. Super focused, settled relationship, great manager, knows what he has to do.

Certainly made me shut up as I always thought Lando was 2-3 tenths quicker.
Anyone consider that Oscar had maybe been setting the car up more for the race in previous seasons because his tire management was still lacking, and a faster qualifying car would have sunk him like a stone on Sundays?

He already said that he put a lot of work in over the off season to improve his weaknesses, and maybe that allows him more options for set up because he can deal with it better?

Alex Dunne has just won the F2 feature race and now leads the championship. He’s in the McLaren driver academy…. Even more internal driver pressure for Lando
