The remaining races will be interesting. Will the drivers be treated equally? It was a different case back in 2006 when MSC was fighting for the title.

They weren't treated equally before, why should it change now?

Good point. But I have a feeling he will atleast get a reliable car, they need that 5th place. If he gets a reliable car we know what he's capable of, and he has a point to prove. Win win situation for Mercedes if both cars score points. If his unreliablity was part of a conspiracy they have already got what they wanted. Then again, I dnt trust this team at all.

As a die hard Merc fan, who's also a die hard Schumi fan, my head exploded in 2010 when everything fell into place. I'm not sure where to post this among the many threads, but since it's specifically about the 2012 team and not speculation I'll post it here.

I know most of the Schumi fans in here have always been Schumi fans but NOT Merc fans, so the pitch forks and torches were inevitable. I know it's upsetting, but this isn't 2006. It's come out in the news that Merc was forthright about this. They offered Schumacher a contract in July, and told him if they had to wait until October they'd need to start shopping around for drivers and Schumacher could lose his seat. Schumacher was fine with this, and knew of the Hamilton plan all along.

As for the rest of 2012, we've got 6 more races. Perhaps we'll still see Schumacher win this season. The car is only going to get faster for the rest of the season, now that their development program is back in full swing. With Mike Elliot on board, I think the team is finally locked in. With any luck, we should see some good races within the rest of this season.

As far as the "What was that?! What was that?!" incident goes... that tone could be either friendly ribbing or hugely disrespectful; it all depends on who was saying it. If it was Brawn, then I'll call it friendly ribbing.

Let's hope for some good races for the rest of the season. At least we've been given enough warning that we'll get to savor these last few races with our favorite driver.

what respect? Schumacher said he would be deciding in October and they announce the signing of haliton on the last day of september.
they have let him down with each and every promise they made .He came from retirement not because he felt the itch of racing but he was lured into it by brawn -promising a fight for the championship within those two years .This was never ever even near reality.Sure the car was decent speedwise in the first half of the year at least at times.but now they had appalling reliability.
They owe schumacher a lot .that´s my feeling.

 Mercedes refused to let Schumacher hold them hostage. They found a better driver before the market closed. :P He's just a driver. Easily replaced as it turns out. He won't be missed.

I'm glad MSC is leaving Mercedes. The team is pure crap. Three years he's been there and with those 4 wheel things Mercedes called F1 cars could not do miracles. They have been good for the first races of 2012, but the car was eating its tires and still does. A team that cannot realize tire problems for three years... Come on! This team is pure joke. I wonder what Hamilton saw in this team that signed a three-year contract with them. Ross and Norby done it again fooling another great driver

Completely agree with this. It is unbelievable that Schumacher came back just for the fun of driving any rubbish F1 car; somewhere, there has been assurances of a chance to win at least another WDC (the same green, leafy, smoky stuff that Brawn and Haug have now sold to Hamilton). Of course, this has been far from the reality. It doesn't look like Schumacher quit by himself and Mercedes were forced to find another driver or that he was in the loop about Hamilton replacing him. I'm basing this on Schumacher's presence at the YDT; doesn't look like a man who had given up at that point. And in F1, things like Hamilton's move to Mercedes doesn't happen overnight.

So, any musings about Mercedes' or Brawn's respect for Schumacher is more likely to be pure fantasy.
Welcome to the anything-eats-anything corporate universe!

PS: Edited to clarify that Brawn and Haug were selling Hamilton not just the greenback $$ :D

The will fire Ross Brawn too. Oh they dont deliver. Fire them haha!

Now they have Hamilton who is the fastest man on the grid. After 3 years of development and this driver it cant go wrong. If they cant deliver this time MGP is a complete joke

What they did with MSC is noot good PR for Mercedes.

I,m glad i drive Audi.
