Bingo. Exactly my thoughts. Just leave it alone. Track temp will reduce towards the evening and the C6 will come into it's optimal behavior.

Strange tire allocation. 1 M, 1H, 5S. They are poor on the C6. It's the same as Imola. Why save 5 sets of the soft?

They could easily be down in P7/P8 if Mercedes runs the mediums in Q3...

Maybe they discovered to be better on medium only today morning. It's the price to pay for having always such crap Friday.

Anyway it's not a given yet, the soft may come better as the temps drop later.

How does it look? Sorry, I missed FP3 and only saw now Max's comments after FP2.

Is there a chance for us to be in the top 3? With Ferraris being rapid and McLaren expected to be there?

Max and Charles are gunning for pole. Didn’t Max say he was confident of being ahead of the Mclarens Friday evening?
I share his beliefs.

For one lap on minimum fuel I still suspect that the C6 is stronger, especially on a fully ramped up track that is slightly cooler in the afternoon. Five C6 tyres makes sense, you could even consider doing 3 runs in Q3 if you get through using only one set in Q1 and Q2 respectively.

Max didn't say he was confident of being ahead of the Mclarens. He said he was confident of being closer than 7 tenths off like FP2. That's the bare minimum, you would hope... :?

He never said that. Sharing "his beliefs" is easy when they are really your beliefs

The quote I read didn't have Max saying any such thing but I'll paste the quote here for reference:

"FP1 was quite positive. We made some changes for FP2, to see how far we could push the balance. I think we overdid it a little bit. I couldn’t attack the corners the way I would like to. I don’t expect us to be the fastest, but we want to be a bit closer than we were in FP2. I'm quite confident that we can be a lot closer. The Ferraris look very fast; they took a big step forward"

It will be used at Montreal as well though, right?
